Apply for Tier 4 under new sponsor (University) from UK

Post by mthila » Mon Jul 29, 2013 2:24 pm

Hi all,

My friend wants to change the university she studies and she would like to start a new course in the new university. But she couldn't complete the course she got visa for.

She currently has leave to remain, but to start a course in the new uni, she needs a new visa, because her current visa restricts her to study in the university which sponsored her.

For this, could she submit a fresh application as for leave to remain under a new university?

Thanks for any help in advance :-)
Don't take "NO" for an answer if it shouldn't be!!!

Can you shed more light on her situation. How many years has she spent on the current t4 visa? How long is the new course for? These are the factors that will determine the outcome!
Gone are those days when you can change course when you feel like.
IMpossible is 2 letters to long!

She has spent more or less than 2 years on Tier 4 Visa, but since she had stopped attending that college due to several reasons, she has received a letter notifying curtailment of her current visa to September this year.

She is now trying to apply for a degree course in a university which is 3 years long.

The question is, Does she have to go back to her home country to submit the fresh application with CAS of the new course? or can she do it while being here in the UK?

If she manage to get admission before the end of her curtailed visa expiry for a course starting within 1 month of visa expiry and meets academic progression criteria then most likely she can apply it within uk. But if the past non-attendance has been reported to UKBA then it might affect application too.

If she stop attending college without any solid reason and been reported to UKBA as absconding student, it'a really hard for her to get any further visa now, as she has seriously violated her visa conditions.

If she's been informed her visa is being curtailed it's too late. She should have submitted a fresh application in the UK before this. She'll have to go home and apply for entry clearance.
