Can someone please tell what documents you need to take for collection of OCI when it arrives in Birmingham? Also do I need to take my wife and son with me as I have to collect their OCI as well along with mine?

You'd need printout of online status and your British passport. I think it should be fine for you to collect on their behalf, but to be on the safer side and to avoid wastage of journey - carry marriage/Brith certificate

I am surprised they processed ur oci so quickly. Ur sure you applied in may and not in April.
Anyway, u got to take print out of the online status ( for all applicants) for submission. Then for collection, acknowledgement slip + consent letter from both parents stating that you have no objection for the issue of oci for your child(1 letter with both parents signature)+ authorisation letter from your wife saying that she has authorised you to collect her passport + photocopy of ur proof of Id (driving licence)

Can anyone let me know once received at Birmingham, can I go and collect it in a single day or any more waiting is involved ?
Again do I have to go earlier to get first token or can I go anytime ?

You have to wait 6-7 working days to receive your passport if submitted in person. 10 working days by post. If you are not in hurry, then I suggest you apply by post.
For submission there is no need to go early. Go at 10 and u will be given a token. It's not that busy.

it is Eid holiday today at HCI. I do not know what time they update OCI status. My anxiety is at peak now as we have ticket for India on 15 Aug and there are only 3 working days in between. Should I try for urgent tourist visa for my son (OCI applicant) on Monday? any advice...

Why not just go down to London on tues and see if it has arrived. If not just apply for a tourist visa on Wednesday

You are in a quite tricky situation. I believe the status will change and you'll be able to get OCI stamped by Wed 14th Aug.

However, things may get delayed for any unforeseen reason. I would suggest, keep all the visa paperwork ready and be prepared to submit on monday. You can submit the visa application until 2.30pm(?) and OCI collection until 12:00......so check the status on Monday monday up until 11am ish and take a decision.

Do you think I will be able to get visa for my son by Wednesday (14th Aug) if I apply on Monday (12 Aug)?. We have tickets for India on 15th.

Thanks a lot vmat. I have booked my tickets for 24th Aug. If status does not changes this Monday i'll straight away go and apply for a Visa.
Any idea what time status changes ?

How do you know that your passport is ready for collection after you submitted it for OCI sticker ?

Any idea how long it takes to get VISA in Birmingham if applied in person at VFS ?

or is it possible to complete both these steps the same day?

I belive its 7 days after submission of passport for OCI sticker.

Its silly, mine OCI has been posted on 30th July from India and still not arrived. They are lazy in Birmingham. Now i have to apply for a VISA as i am going India on 24th Aug.....

Give a call to high comission as soon as they are open. My understnding is - your paper has reached London, but highcommission may take few days to update the status from their side - considering the backlog they may have.
If you explain them your situation, they will do it urgently. You should have called them last Friday itself.
When you call them, most of the times they don't respond, but they pick up the phone once in a while if you keep trying. It happened when I applied for my daughter's PIO. When I told them I have ticket booked they have posted in on the same day.
