Thank you so much for this information. Please excuse my next question (it may sound dumb but i just need to be certain  I am a kenyan (non EEA national) getting married in a few months to an irish national. Does he fall in the ‘member of EU citizen’ or ‘Irish citizen’ category? The reason i ask is because i noticed that they explain the requirements for non EEA national either accompanying/joining EU citizen to ireland and non EEA national accompanying Irish spouse on a visit/relocating to ireland. In this case though, both the non EEA national and Irish spouse are not residents at the time of application. One requires a bank statement, the other does not.

I am in kenya at the moment and he is in ireland. We have made a previous application (short stay) which was denied because of financial reasons. We thought all we needed to show is that he is gainfully employed. Mike makes a good living but between trips to kenya, our upcoming wedding and his mortgage, the bank balance was not so good despite it indicating his salary which is way above minimum wage. We are just keen to avoid the same mistake.

Please don't ask the same question in multiple threads. I have moved this post to here and it is now locked. Please continue in one thread only.
