Being a British citizen

Post by Moonika » Sun Sep 08, 2013 4:34 pm

I was just wondering... After you became a British citizen, do you need to inform your employer, bank, tax office, council, anyone? What do you guys think?

Inform Employer and Possibly bank

Remember you do not get any better benefits for acquiring a british passport, like tax concessions etc.

Inform employer; So in the event of any european travel opportunities come up on work they can consider you.

Inform Bank: If you have loans or mortgages make sure if a different rate was being charged for you as a migrant the same is brought in line with that applicable to British Resident.

Cheers

When you inform bank or any finance company you may be dealing with, ask them to update the customer id system, also known as KYC (Know Your Customer), the fields to upadate are Nationality, Country of Permanent Residence, Passport number if you are showing passport as proof of nationality, also to remove any non-permanent resident or non-citizen marker against you on the system.
