English Language Test is mandatory for T2 ICT extension ?

Post by durga » Thu Apr 25, 2013 12:01 pm

Hi,

I will be completing 3 years on Nov 2013 on Tier 2 ICT and want to apply for visa extension.

Do i have to clear English Language test even though I have proven my English language skills in my previous/first application by providing Bachelor's degree document as proof in Nov 2010 ?

i have awarded 10 points when i checked in the points system.

I have found similar question in the forum but nobody given the answer.
Thanks
Durga

yes, you need to score 10 points for English. See para 122 of the T2 policy guidance and Immigration Rule 245GD(g)

Thanks for the response Manci.

I have another question, Iam an engineering graduate from India, i got 10 points through Point based system(PBS), Is it sufficient to submit the original degree awarded by the institute as a proof of degree taught in English?

or Do i need to get evidence from NARIC that it is comparable to an English bachelors degree, a letter from the institution to say it was taught in English?

Because i do remember when i applied the visa for the first time in October 2010 from India, i got 10 points for my degree and i submit the original degree to UKBA.

you need to check on the points-based calculator if you will score 10 points for English and if you do submit the original degree certificate with the application.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes, i did checked on the point-based calculator and i scored 10 points for my degree. I have one more question

I have a First Class 4 years bachelor of Technology(B.Tech) in Electrical Engineering. The point calculator has 3 options

1) Bachelor degree( Honours/ Special)

2) Bachelor degree( in a Professional subject)

3) Bachelor degree( Ordinary/ Pass )

What is the option i need to pick from the above 3?

@Manci , Yes one of them awarded 10 points.

Now my employer generated the COS for me, i have book the premium appointment on Nov 5th and filled the online application.

I got one more question about SOC codes, 3 years back when i granted the Tier2 ICT visa my SOC code is 2132(according to SOC 2000), now it changed to 2136 (according to SOC 2010). My roles and responsibilities are same.

When i check with the HR deportment about the COS, they said they did not specified anything in the COS about the SOC code and salary.

In the cover letter it specified, i need to bring passport,2 photos, printed application and cover letter.

Do i need to carry any letter from my employer about the job description?
And do i need to submit any payslips to confirm the salary?

not possible to assign a CoS without stating the SOC code, salary and job description.
Insist that they give you a copy because the information on your application must match exactly what is in the CoS.

SOC 2000 is now superseded and SOC 2010 must be used for all new CoSs and grant of leave appplications

Thanks Manici.

Yes you are correct, i have checked with the HR, they specified the correct SOC code and salary while generating the COS :-).

When i got the copy of COS, i have found that they forgot to update my home address. I mean in the first application( 3 years back) my home address is in India now it changed to UK. Mistakenly they still kept the old home address while generating the COS.

Do you think they can change the home address now? If not possible, Is it ok amend sponsor note specifying the UK address in the Live COS?

in the CoS the country of residence must be stated. It should have been the UK. Was it?

Your current residential address should appear in the CoS. Ask them to make the amendment via a sponsor note.
