Allotment of BC cases at UKBA - Freedom of Information

Post by pkt1980 » Sun Sep 22, 2013 11:57 am

Below is an excerpt from a question someone posted:

1. Procedures followed after the receipt of naturalisation applications both NCS and
Postal from date of receipt of application until allotment to a case worker.

2. The reasons why some applications are jumping the queue for case worker
allotment.

3. I would like to know the measures taken by UKBA to deal with surge of
applications due to fee hike, in terms of handling work load to prevent delays.

• Upon receipt of an application the form is date stamped and the fee is taken. A
paper file and an electronic record are then created and the file is ready for allocation
to a Casework team. Files are allocated in date order. Al Nationality Casework
instructions can be found in the UKBA website by following the attached link
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/polic ... ctions/niv
ol1/
• Applications are al ocated in date order. Some cases may take longer to reach a
decision dependent on the necessity to request further information or documentation.

• Appropriate resources were allocated to deal with a surge in applications following
the fee increase.
