Hi All,
This could be a silly question and you can shoot me down, but I want to confirm.
I am applying for ILR using SET(O). I am confused by this question -
7.11. how long have you lived in the UK?
I first came to UK in September 2007 on work-permit dependent. Then I got my tier-1 in August 2008 and I am applying for ILR based on tier-1.
So technically if I calculate my time in UK including work permit dependent, then it is 5 years 10 months. While just on Tier-1, it is 4 years 11 months and 5 days on the day of application.
So, my question is , what should I write in the form.
Regards

IMO, You should mention the date of your first entry to UK, as the question does not ask u about your stay on tier 1 visa. It asks you about your total time period in UK.

Hi sonub4ualt,
You mean that if someone is in UK since 2004 and got his visa changed to Tier-1 later down the road, then the answer for 7.11 is the time rom 2004 and not from the time the Tier-1 was first stamped on his passport?
Please clarify?
I thought 7.11 is based on the current application your are applying under, which is Tier 1 to ILR, hence the answer to this will be 4 yrs and 11 months or 5 years.
Thanks.
Regards,

Hi experts,
Could you please clarify the above?
If I entered UK in 2004 then do I need to answer it as 9 years (or) it should be 4 years and 11 months based on Tier 1 (General).
Thanks again in advance.

Hi,
I applied last month for ILR using SET(O) at Croydon PEO.
I had come to UK in September 2005 and got my Tier 1 approved on October 2008. I mentioned October 2008 (date of Tier 1 stamp) in the section in question.
My visa got approved with no questions asked on this. Previously when I had similar question someone on the forum mentioned you should mention either:
1. Date of the visa stamp for Tier1 if you were already in different category in the UK while you got Tier stamped.
OR
2. The date you entered the UK, after you got your Tier 1 stamped. (does not apply in your case).
Hope this helps

I also came in 2007 (October) on a work permit and then changed to Tier 2 general. I was going to put October 2007, since the only reason I changed to a Tier 2 was because I started with a new employer (same job) and work permit was no longer a viable option in 2011. It's about how long you've lived in the UK (as qualifiying for ILR). This is my impression.

I'm now filling in this question. Would a person previously on a work permit, put the date they came in on the work permit. Otherwise, I've only been on Tier 2 since June 2011. Please let me know- I need help with this question! Thanks for any help you can provide.
