professional referee

Hi,

I am struggling to find a professional referee. One of my friends, whom I have known since I arrived here in November 2007, works for Marie Curie charity to do with Cancer. He works in the accounts department although not certified as an accountant (he has worked in the accounting field most of his working life, he's in his 50's). Could he act as my referee?
