Secure delivery vs. second class

Post by cordelio » Mon Oct 07, 2013 9:57 am

Dear All,

Apologies for posting on the timeline, the topic was recently discussed here and it is really crucial for my travel plans.

Trying to decide between second class port vs. secure delivery.

During the day I am at work, however my house has a postbox that courriers can just post envelopes. If I opt for the secure delivery; can they just post through the door or will they leave me a note and come back later (make me lose days)

Many thanks for your help

Hi Cordelio,

Opt for secure post and they will deliver at your place. If you are not at your residence, they will leave note with tracking number.

Go to the DX website - www.thedx.co.uk/delivery and you can rearrange next business day delivery at your work address.

This is exactly what I did. They are pretty good and will aim to deliver in person to you.

Another option is you send a self addressed special delivery envelope with your application and give them instructions to send it back in that envelope. They will respect your choice and act accordingly as long as the instructions are precise and clear.

Hope it helps.

Dear Karnavati,

Many thanks for your prompt reply.

One more question, for the below. Do they "post" the special delivery envelopes through the mailbox or do they still require signature? If the former perfect, as long as it's through my door I don't care about the signature proof.

Hi Karnavati - Congratulations :) that marks the end of the journey for you in the BC process :) enjoy.

My wife is applying for her first British passport as well today. We will be using the check and send service.

I had a quick question for you. Please help.

How did the IPS return the original documents? I.e. Did the naturalisation certificate came back to you un-bent / unfolded?
Did you have to send a DO NOT BEND envelop etc. requesting them to send the documents back in that special envelop?

I know they can send the originals back in secure delivery, we have ticked that option in the application, but was more curious to know how to ask them to send the naturalisation certificate back without folding it? Or do you know is it ok to get it back folded if they do fold it when they send it back.

Please let me know.
