Do they actually check documents and contact references?

Post by kthomash » Wed Oct 16, 2013 3:33 am

Has anyone actually had their documents checked or references contacted by the Home Office?

What information could they have about us- since the border officials at airports do not store data, but only check your visa or passport- correct?

Thanks

Yes they check everything. Given the influx in recent times they are stricter and follow their own norms but definitely everything is checked on a random basis in general. But if you are a national of certain countries definitely they will scan through everything without a doubt.

Yep ... agree ...

They do quite thorough check and also sometimes they do contact the referee with some basic checks on the referee as well ...

One of my referees said he had never been contacted, and has acted as refereee a number of times. My guess is that they do random checks, plus there are probably specific circumstances that trigger an automatic check.

The huge influx should not alter their approach, but if anything they may be a little less strict than before, not more so ??

I think it is random check, also if an applicant is a doubtful character then it may trigger the check.

Border official at the airport have access to our data, if they have doubt, they can pull you in for an interview. Read thru a recent thread "passport check at airport".
