I assume your spouse is British/Settled?

You can claim Housing Benefit/Council Tax Benefit if you're on a low income, it has nothing to do with hours worked, that's working tax credits (joint claim you must make).

You should ensure that any claim for HB/CTB includes a single person/lone parent amount for your spouse and nothing for you, until you get ILR.

Once the child is born there may be entitlement to Tax Credits, Child Benefit and the Sure Start Maternity Grant.

Yes you can claim HB/CTB without a job, as you both have ILR you can claim all public funds you are entitled to.

thanks a lot . but on what basis my friend confirmed i cant claim HB if i dont have a job. He said they will not pay you rent to live. HB is for people on low income NOT for people without income. HB is the help for people to fulfill thier expenses.
i will re-confirm from him.

should i wait for the child to come to this world or should i start claiming next month ..

pls advise.

Your friend is talking rubbish. HB and CTB are means tested, thus, it is based on income, if you have low/no income you may be entitled. You may also be entitled to Job Seekers Allowance, those who receive Income Based JSA are entitled to full HB/CTB subject to LHA limits.

There must be some landlords who take social security claimants in your area?

Go to your local CABand ask them what is available, they should know. Alternatively, ask at your local authority housing office.

http://www.dssmove.co.uk/find-an-agent

alternatively approach all property agents in your area and ask whether do they take dss tenants, and

look for property specifications like dss welcome, part dss welcome etc..

look in the local shop windows ads.

I know it is hard, but eventually you will get one.
