Naturalisation - OCI Card - After Indian passport expiry

My Indian passport is getting expired by Jan 2014. I am eligible for British citizenship on or after 20th March 2014.

I would say yes, you need to renew your Indian passport.

no and no in both the cases.

however for naturalisation, in absence of a valid passport, to satisfy the residential requirements you need to prove that you were present in the UK - so you have to submit payslips for the month of jan, feb, march or a letter from the employer confirming that you worked during that period.
