New Point of Debate

Post by aromated » Tue Oct 05, 2004 11:53 am

Hi Everybody
After going through various questions and answers on this platform, it seems af if HSMP team is deciding cases not datewise rather priority wise, i.e. Professions like Doctor, Accountants etc which r in great demand in UK gets automatic prioroty in their case perusal. Is this opinion justified?

Certainly looks like that to me.

My friend sent in his application in the second week of September and recieved his approval within 10 days. He is a doctor and is working for a NHS hospital. I called up and asked the HO and they confirmed that doctors are given priority because of the shortage.

It looks like doctors are moved right up the queue and the rest of us go on datewise.

I have been 6 months on HSMP in UK. From my experience I can say that except for IT specialists, Doctors i.e professions which are in genuine demand, there is difficulty for other Highly Skilled persons especially those from Asian and African countries to get job commensurate to their experience and are ending up doing oddjobs or entry level jobs to survive. Hence the Home Office should have made the HSMP scheme sector specific like the US H1 visa, after deciding which are the sectors in which there is a job availability instead of giving the visa freely to everyone and putting persons from other fields at a disadvatage by leaving their good positions in their home countries and doing odd jobs here. As per the earlier posting the HO is doing that indirectly by giving priorty to some specific professions but do not want to lose income from other applicants by making the scheme sector specific.

I would say with doctors maybe true as someone already posted saying that his mate's application got processed immediately. i am not sure though for any other proffessions. My reasoning would be that only the proffession in which one can claim the 50points for 'priority' proffession, are the ones which they are prossessing immediately. for WP applications they do have the two tier system, i would say its probably only there where they are doing this. whats your reasoning for this suggestion have you had anything?

Hi f2k
u r right in sensing two tier approach adopted by HSMP and that might be the reason due to which they are processing so slowly.

Processing medical doctors applications is easy (almost automatic) as they get 80 points just on the basis of their education:

50 Points for priority (Medical doctors)
30 Points for doctorate

Hi tvt
It means out of turn to doctors or persons with job offer may partially be the cause of slow processing.
