Help regarding EU1 application-Update!

Post by masterboy123 » Thu Nov 28, 2013 8:40 pm

Hi,

My EU national spouse is working in Dublin and renting a room in Dublin.

I got a job with HSE but in different county and my wife is working in Dublin.
Can I apply for EU1 (stamp 4 EUFAM) given my wife's payslip shows that she is working in Dublin?

We have joint bank account, etc. and other documents ready.

@ masterboy123

You are in a very good position by having a visa based on ur profession...Why do u want to go through all the hassle of being the spouse of EU spouse dependent...After two years you will get Stamp 4 and you will no more need HSE to sponsor you.

Yes, the doors are open to you to apply for a residence card based on ur EU spouse, but its a tricky track, where ur wife should have a job all the way down and still DOJ will find a way to turn down ur Permanent Residence card after 5 years.

I would advise to stay on ur current visa for two years and than you will get Stamp 4 any way...Yes i know u will have to pay 300 euros but it's worth....Ur choice....ur life...:)

Ok thanks Calvin.

Actually my passport is going to expire in 8 months so I am issued a GNIB for 8 months only, instead of the usual 2 years. And after 8 months I have to apply again. And keep applying after every 2 years.

I understand there are pros and cons for having stamp 4 EUFAM versus the one related to my profession.

Ok so coming back to my question: is it OK if my wife is working in different city and i am working in different city to apply for EU1 application?

Man it's tricky, there will be questions coming from the DOJ of the nature of long distance relationship....

I think u r happy to take the route of residence card base on ur wife. If you have made ur mind, so, don't confuse ur self, just apply for it...

According to GNIB at Burgh quay, I can not apply for GNIB card based on my profession :( Because I entered Ireland on the basis of EU spouse visa and my only choice is to apply for EU1 application.
We sent the application this week, what's the usual timeframe to receive the temporary stamp4?

Got my temporary stamp 4 yesterday, it took 17 days (including weekends) in total after submission of EU1 application and related documents.

This temporary GNIB card is valid for a little more than 7 months. (not 6 months). Final decision is due in first week of June.

Thanks everyone for the help!! :) And a merry christmas!! :D
