A couple of questions!

Post by xyz111 » Thu Dec 05, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi,

My citizenship is due in 5 months and I have following questions on the subject:

1. My passport (Pakistan) expires in 1 month time so will I need to renew it?. Currently I have overseas Pakistani ID card. Do I still need to update Pakistani passport for BC application?!

2. I am changing jobs to work as limited company. Is this OK or it will have any effect on my application?!

Thanks.

Looking at the link you referenced, it says this:

" Q4: Do I need to send my foreign passport with the British passport application?

Yes. You need to send any current passport you have."

It strikes me that, assuming you are right, we should update this FAQ to address the question of 'but what if I don't have a current passport?'

You need a current passport. It doesn't need to be valid. For both naturalisation and passport applications, an expired passport is fine as long this is your current (latest) one.

So I should not update my passport. I will be able to travel on my overseas ID card to Pakistan if I need to until my BC application!!

Thanks.

You don't need to renew the passport for the naturalisation application but you will need to renew it if you want to travel. Pakistani ID card is not a travel document.

You can use NICOP to travel Pakistan even without a passport.

And what when one wants to come back to UK?

Nicop is no good then.
