Tier 1 visa expired by 2 months can I still renew

I unfortunately had to leave the UK in September 2013 and my Tier 1 visa expired at the end of October 2013. I want to return to the UK on the 7th January 2014 and renew my Tier 1 visa.

Does anyone know if this is possible? Is there a rule to say if your visa has expired you won't be able to renew?

I appreciate anyone who can confirm or help with my query.

Further to AUHS's information, you may want to check this out by using the Points-Based Calculator in the 'How to Apply' section on the UKBA's website http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... /applying/
You will find that when you specify that you are outside the UK, it will give this statement: The Tier 1 (General) route is now closed to overseas applicants
