ancestry fraud

Post by niksinif » Mon Jun 25, 2007 4:02 pm

any statistics or articles on how much fraud is being done in regards to ancestry citizenship. with the high demand for citizenship, you would think that theres tons of people using fake birth certificates to say they have an italian grandmother

Why are you planning to get citizenship through a fake birth certificate?

You usually have to provide a number of birth and marriage certificates, as well as your passport. All are inter-related. To fake this will be difficult, and often the older "source of citizenship" birth and marriage records come from the country of interest and can be verified.

I would be surprised if there is much room for fraud, though who knows...

I heard about a case inwhich three guys applied making their grandfather their dad in papers and got visa. They changed their father's name to grandfather's name.

One of them got busted later on in the hands of a fed agency.
