English Test Requirement - unclear as proven IELTS prior

Post by swordfish20000 » Wed Nov 27, 2013 10:39 pm

Hello All,

My query is regarding the new English Test requirement.

I am currently on Tier 1 general visa and am going for ILR in April 2014

I do not have an degree in English language - as a result at my Initial Tier 1G application I had proven my English knowledge by getting IELTS certificate.

The same IELTS certificate was used at Extension of Tier 1G

Now at the time of ILR application - Do I need to sit again for English test OR can I use my IELTS.

Note : On my IELTS certificate it mention validity of 2 years. ( but it was accepted at extension of Tier 1g which is after 3 years )

Your help will me much appreciated.

Thank you all

Hi Swordfish,

You can use the IELTS certificate to fulfill the new Knowledge of Life and Language (KOLL) requirement.

Ref: Point 3

I have seen other posts where same has been used as reference but can some one provide the official link that support point 3.

The link given in there which I am pasting below refers to naturalisation not for ILR, please correct if I am wrong.

Hi mkazimyobo,
did you have any luck with your query? did you get the official link confirming expired IELTS will be valid for ILR (SET O) applications?

Hi Bilal
I found this link
http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitec ... hip/kol-uk

Title of document suggest this should be used both for settlement and naturalisation, in there please check section
"If you already have a qualification at B1 level"

Hope that serve the purpose.

Thanks
