Mother's Visitor Visa

Post by ds2013 » Thu Jan 09, 2014 8:27 pm

Hello,
I have few queries regrading my mothers visitor visa.

1. As I am tier 1 visa, should i apply for General visitor or family visitors visa for my mother?

2. Is it required to show property on my mothers name in India?

3. Is it recommended to apply for 6 months visa for first time Visitor to UK?

Thanks in advance.

Family visitor visa would be better

2. Is it required to show property on my mothers name in India?
Property is not mandatory but sufficient funds and reason y she would return back are important (like if ur dad is there, ur sibblings or she has a permanent govt job) anything that ties her back to india

3. Is it recommended to apply for 6 months visa for first time Visitor to UK?
Yes if its first time, it is recommended to go for 6 months ... but u can always apply for 2yr or 5yr if you want.

That would be General Visitor visa and not Family visa as suggested in the Thread. Please read the guidelines, if you have a PR then you can apply as family visitor. If not, please apply as General visitor.

Thanks,
V

Correcting uk2k10 on 1. As I am tier 1 visa, should i apply for General visitor or family visitors visa for my mother? on the answer to 1st question
Since, you are not on ILR yet you cannot sponsor your parents. They need to apply as General visitor, as rules changed last year or year before. A friend of mine, had a problem with categories while applying for his in-laws thats when we realised.

***Additionally the family member you are visiting must :
be a British citizen;
be settled in the UK;
have been granted asylum in the UK; or
have Humanitarian Protection status.

Thanks for Replying to my queries.

Actually there is some property on my mothers name but the original documents are with Bank due to mortgage.

Is it fine if i show the xerox copy along with an affidavit during visa application ?

or do we need to show original property document ?

thanks
