On Tier 2 Generel can i claim child benefit?

Post by yogeeta75 » Fri Jan 10, 2014 12:38 pm

Hi
I am actually on Tier 2 General and from Mauritius. My son was born in November 2009. As of today i have not claim anything as my visa says no recourse to public funds. Can i claim child benefit?
What are the criteria that i need to fulfill to be able to make a successful claim.

Please advise.Thanks

You should be able to as there is a reciprocal agreement in place, link below :

http://www.dwp.gov.uk/international/soc ... countries/

HMRC weblink with the info on how to apply etc below :

http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/childbenefit/sta ... als-uk.htm

Char (CR001 not Casa)

Thanks for the links - really helpful.

Will that affect my ILR application later on?

Thanks

No affect as those from Mauritius can claim Child Benefit even though subject to immigration control. See page 20 of the guide (click).

Hi
I did send the application form on the 10th of January and some monies came in the bank account on the 24th Jan 2014 - within 2 weeks. However I have not received any letter from HMRC stating they will start the payment etc etc. I was not expecting any other monies coming in the account. It has a reference as a long number and CHB at the end.

Do I need to call them for accepting the claim etc?
Thanks
