Queuing at INIS Burgh Quay

Post by Grendels » Fri Jan 10, 2014 2:40 pm

Hi everyone

I was wondering about the queueing system at INIS by Burgh Quay. I need to get my "permission to remain" stamp 4 GNIB card renewed. I've read that there are a limited number of tickets issued every day, and you need to queue to get a ticket, and the whole process can take 4 hours or more. I've read of tickets running out at 08.20, 13.00, and 17.00.

What's the situation now? If you've been there in the past couple months, could you answer:
  • What time did you start to queue?
    How long did it take?
What time was the last ticket issued?
Is there one queue for everyone? Or are, for example, visa re-entries dealt with in a separate queue from "permission to remain" cases or students?

Please find the answers of your questions below:

This time of the year you are fine to go at 7:00am and hope you will be done by 10:00am. The big queue time is between Sept – Nov when foreign students start their studies in Irish colleges.

What time did you start to queue? People start the queue sometimes before 6:00am

How long did it take?

Before 8:00am the security guard will open the door and u will stand in the queue for the ticket. At 8:00am the visa officers will start work and you will be seen on your turn

What time was the last ticket issued?

Depends on the season, if it is sept, Oct, Nov (It’s the foreign students season to start studies in Ireland). The tickets will run out at 9:00am

Is there one queue for everyone? Or are, for example, visa re-entries dealt with in a separate queue from "permission to remain" cases or students?

Students have a separate queue, they will be issued tickets after 9:00am, Everyone else who is looking to re-new GNIB card or first time registration will have a separate queue and for re-entry you will have a separate queue.
