Which ever council that manages your borough will send you the invitation for your ceremony. The HO send the approval and certificate to your council and thats when your council sends you the invite for your ceremony and thats where you will pledge and receive your certificate

Hi all who have received their approval.

Just want to share something regarding approval letter and invitation from local authority.
Home office sends two types of letters, one that only says your application for naturalisation for British citizenship has been approved. It would carry on saying do not contact your local authority until they contact you. Further on it would saythis is not an invitation letter, you would receive an invitation letter soon which you have to show your localauthority along other requirements. This was in my case I received the approval letter first and after 3 days I received the local auhority letter and after two more days I have received Invitation letter from HO which actually confirmed the local authority letter. Moreover in my case LA asked me to bring invitation letter from HO.

in second scenario HO sends approval and invitation in same letter and would ask you to contact your LA to confirm your intention of attending the ceremony on the date available or otherwise.

Hope this would help. By the way I am having a ceremony on 21st January.

thanks

Finally the wait is over...feel so relieved. Only the ceremony left to be arranged, which will be on Monday.
Good luck to all still waiting!!!

Interim updates:
11/02/2012 Email received- still under consideration;
17/01/2012 Called HO yesterday and was told the applications are under consideration.
Both responses fall under the decision taken, however there was the usual answer. Do not rely on these responses.

In my case I received letter from council first then fr HO.

In either case depending on your council and letter from HO you have contact LA. I didnt contact because LA letter said if you are happy with the schedule outlined in letter you dont have to contact us. They have asked to bring HO invitation letter and their letter when coming to attend the ceremony.

Congratulations. I can see everyone is taking my advice in requesting their documents so that HO can hurry the hell up lol

Well done, I should think you can travel on your indian passport as long as you have your indefinite leave to remain in the passport or a passport on your way back to immigration in the UK

Thanks apple02. I think the document return request pushed it up a bit :) though I was happy to go at their pace and wait for them to make a decision until the need to travel came up recently.

I have confirmed with a friend who works there that retrieving your documents has no impact on where you are in the queue.

SO please don't start a trend of everyone suddenly requesting documents back for no reason which will again just cause extra work within UKBA for no reason and distract people from their normal case management activities.

You're more likely to find you go to the back of the queue if your file doesn't make it back to where it originally was once your passport has been retrieved.
