Need guidance on applying separately OR as a family

Post by ind2uk » Sun Jan 19, 2014 10:41 am

Hi friends,
Need some guidance from experts on this helpful forum.

My eligibility : 1.5 yrs Work Permit + 3.5 yrs Tier1 + 1 year 2 months ILR
wife : same situation as me with 'dependent' visa.
son : 3 years 3 months with Indian passport.

I can apply for citizenship right away.
For my wife, to satisfy the requirement of being present in UK 3 years before the the date of application she would have to wait until April 2014.

our options are:
1) I apply alone right away then wife and son apply in April
in this situation, my application will be in progress when they in April.
Not sure if they would need to wait untily my application is decided.

2) we all apply together in April.

Applying together might be a bit cheaper and save bit of time, but am looking for other points which should be be considered for above choices.
Hence the request for inputs.

thanks

The qualifying residence period for naturalisation is 5 years not 3 (unless married to BC).

See Q1 & Q2 in the FAQ (link below).

Citizenship (adults, children, passport)
