Spouse of Naturalized Irish Citizen change of Stamp

Post by CalvinKlien » Wed Jan 22, 2014 2:00 pm

Hi All,

I got my Irish Naturalization certificate on 20th Jan 2014 and applied for my Irish passport. Once I receive my Irish passport can i bring my wife, who is on Stamp 3 to the INIS to change her stamp to stamp 4 ? OR do we have to apply to the DOJ for change of status or stamp ?

P.S: My son is also an Irish citizen

Thanks in advance and would be looking forward to the expert opinion....

You no need to go through DOJ, directly u can go to GNIB with your wife and they will change visa status from stamp3 to stamp 4.
All you need is Irish passport, yourself and your wife to attend GNIB office; they won’t charge any fee for stamp change.
Initially they give visa for 1 year, then 1 year afterword’s 3 years.
Hope I answered your question.

Myself went through this process for my wife stamp change from stamp 3 to stamp 4.

I became irish citizen approx. 1.5 years back, my wife stamp changed after that, she got 1 year stamp 4 visa initially, last october she got extension for one more year, they told that they will issue 3 year visa during next extension.

I hope your clear with my answer.

You actually don't need an Irish passport to change your spouse's status from stamp 3 to 4. All you need is your naturalisation certificate, passport and GNIB card of foreign spiuse, marriage certificate and proof of same address such as bank statements and you go to INIS. I did it straight after coming from citizenship ceremony.
I had actually lost my GNIB card some time back and did not bother paying the €300 to replace it because I knew as the spouse of an Irish national I don't have to pay for a GNIB card. All I had to do was produce a police lost report.
