I am applying for ILR soon and plan to apply for naturalisation as the spouse of a BC immediately after. I need to have submitted my naturalisation application within 2 weeks of my ILR, as I have to travel abroad for work and any more days outside of the UK and I will have surpassed the 90 day limit. I therefore want to know if I have to wait for my ILR BRP to arrive prior to submitting my naturalisation application via NCS. I know it is true in theory (re
FAQ) that you can apply for ILR & naturalisation on the same day as the spouse of a BC, but in practice
does the Home Office require you to have your ILR BRP at the time you make your naturalisation application?
I see on pg 17 (Section 5) of form AN it says the following:
Evidence of freedom from immigration time restrictions required for all applications...The Home Office letter by which you were given permission to remain permanently in the UK.
I find it hard to believe they wouldn't also require the BRP, however. Does anyone have first-hand experience or can point to more references in the guidance/immigration law?
Any advice, as always, would be appreciated!
