Post by gasl8 » Wed Feb 12, 2014 11:29 pm

Hello Everyone,

I have sucessfully recieved tier 2 genral visa. On the visa Valid From date is : March 09 2014.

I have booked the the tickets for : March 03 2014.

So when i enter uk on March 03 i think the immigration officer will stamp me for visitor and hence my Tier 2 Visa wont be used.

My question is if i go early will that create any issue with my residensy ? Since my Tier 2 visa wont be stamped.

Looking forward to hear back from you guys.

Thanks for all the help.

what is the work start date given in your CoS?
in your visa application what date did you say you wished to travel?
are you a non-visa national?

Do you have a visitor visa for UK already? If yes, they they can allow you. If not, you cannot.

They cannot allow you into the country before the valid date.

Instead you can postpone your travel. Push the tickets and it may charge you a cancellation fee. But its worth piece of mind.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I am a non Visa national and hence i do not need to take a visa if i wish to travel to the UK.

The work start date i mentioned in the COS is : 10th March 2014

When i wish to travel to the UK was mentioned as : 9th March 2014.

I read somewhere : You are allowed to enter the UK up to 14 days before the employment start date recorded on your Certificate of Sponsorship.

Is this true ?

the visa start date could have been up to 14 days before the work start date had you not put the travel date as 9 March. However, this doesn't mean that you can enter 14 days before the work start date if your visa is not valid.

Try to contact the ECO to see if the visa start date could be changed to 3 March, alternatively change your travel arrangements
