Is WP UK tightening work permit to restrict immigration?

How long does it take to process an in-country work permit application now?

I heard that Home Office was tightening their Work permit policy recently. I am a work permit holder and changing my job. My current contract is about to finish very soon. I'm quite worried about this news.

It has been three weeks since my new employer applied Work permit for me. As far as I know, this process usually takes one week or so.

Did anybody here recently get your WP? and how long did it take?
