Hi,

I have lost my original Indian driving license and will be getting a duplicate one issued. I am planning to use this for age proof along with birth certificate.

Do you guys reckon, this duplicate DL will not qualify as evidence? If not then I would be left with no option but to apply for a fresh license, which would take more than a month and its too long for me to hold up the application.

Please advise.

Thanks

Hi Fly2UK,

Any ONE of the following 3 are required:

1. Birth certificate (with translation if not in ENGLISH)

2. Driving Lisence

3. In exceptional cases Notorized xerox of passport

Do not send more documents than required as this causes un-necessary delay in decisioning.

Just go ahead with your Birth certificate and you will get the due points.

CD

Hi raina,

Agreed. But does the application form not ask for both birth certificate and driving license as mandatory evidence?

The application form specifically says:

"Age Assessment - required evidence:

You must produce one of the following to corroborate your age claim: (Please tick the box to indicate which you have supplied, then enter the points claimed for this category in the box at the bottom of the page.)"

Btw before putting in my application I checked with few successful applicants who submitted just one of the documents. Don't worry, apply with just one of the documents.

Also,

for IT returns, is the ITR acknowledgement form enough or we need to submit the form 16 as well. I belive from the current fin year onwards, the original form 16 issued by employer will be given to the employees after filing returns along with the acknowledgement. So ( Original Form 16 + ITR acknowledgement ) will suffice for the IT returns evidence or just the acknowledgement is enough.

Anyone submitting similar documents , pls share your details.

Thanks

Hi Da,

Send the Old and the duplicate DL. To be on the safer side send a notorized xerox of passport as well.

Notorized means signed and sealed by a public notary. You will find plenty outside any local civil court. They will charge you about Rs 100 for this.

Hey fly2uk,

1. IT return
2. Salary slips

Do not send anything else. The more the number of documents the more time it takes for verification and hence the longer it takes in decisioning.

Only send documents as instructed in the form.

Chakshu

Does any one know why he can't claim apr 2006 - mar 2007 if he applies in July he still have 12 months in last 15 months doesn't he?

lunaticzombie wrote:my HSMP application will reach in the first week of july.
can I claim apr 2006 - mar 2007, as earning time period?

I want to use this time period because Form 16 covers this period.

Hi Guys,

I need a bit of help in filling up the application form.
Under the qualifications section, it is mentioned that
both the degree award certificate and a letter from
a UK professional body stating the equivalent degree
in UK need to be furnished.

I have read on this forum that the latter is not really
required and very few have furnished such a letter.
So how do I need to explain in the letter for not having
letter from UK professional body?

Is it enough if I dont tick the check box meant for that
and say in the exceptional evidence box that the
Bachelor of Engineering Degree from the university
( VTU, Karnataka, India in my case ) is equivalent to
UK Bachelor's degree and give the link to NARIC site
/ contact information of NARIC.

I possess a copy of a letter issued by my university
stating that the University is affiliated to the Association
of Commonwealth Universities. This information is also
available on the ACU website. Will this letter and web link
hold good as alternative evidence.

It might sound a very basic query, but I thought its best to
take the opinion of successful applicants to be doubly sure
of what I am filling up in the form.

People who have already applied, please advise as to
how you filled up this section.

I was going through this blog and i found this;

"Reason for refusal says:
The Income Tax Department Acknowledgment you supplied is not acceptable because, the acceptable tax return from India is the Saral."

Refused for ITR....now iam confused...I was planning to submit my orignal Form16 and Bank Statements....should that do the work!

Guys,

I guess we need to clearly mention in the covering letter about
the changes introduced this year in filing IT returns.

The post by malar1973 here gives a pretty nice format.

Called up the Customer Centre and my case is still in queue to be assigned to a caseworker :?
Although the silver lining is that the automated message now tells "Currently processing applications received on 28th of June". I was kind of tired listening to previous processing time of 5th June.
Huh hope they successfully process my application and I soon move into contracting

Home Office call to current Employer

Post by cdraina » Mon Jul 16, 2007 6:36 am

Hi Friends,

Please confirm if the Home Office calls applicant's employer in all cases. I haven't informed my employer about it, I would be in trouble.

Thanks,
CD

Raina

I think it is better not to assume anything. Though the guidance says that they "may" seek to verify the documents, we should assume that they would and provide necessary details of the employer. Even if they dont verify, atleast we will be making things clear and open from our side.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks !!

Hi All,

When we provide the contact details of the employer, will it be a problem if the person who has attested the salary slips and all documents recieved from the employer, and the person whose contact details we provide, are different?

I guess the person who attests is usually a senior official who may not be able to answer the queries of HO in case they want to verify earnings etc. So I was thinking of giving the contact of the person who handles all the finances.

Please share your thoughts.

Thanks

Hi ,

I got my reference no. on July 10th. I called the HO today and I was told that my application is "Under consideration". When I told what does that mean, she said that the caseworker is yet to be assigned. But what I thought was that the caseworker was assigned the day I got the reference number. Isnt the caseworker responsible for sending the ref. no?
Should the status "Under Consideration" make me worry?

Thanks

Huh :P
Why do we need to worry about everything? It is in simple plain terms, "Under Consideration". Nothing to fret about. The caseworker does not assign or send the reference number, they are customer care people who send your reference number or communicate with you over the phone or via e-mail.
Sit back relax or go out on a break, I think they are currently processing the applications that they recieved around 28th June.
Call up after atleast 14 days and then try to find out the status.

Approved !!!!! :-))

In-country UK applicant

Documents Sent: 27th June 2007
Documents received: 02nd July 2007
Ref Number received: 03 July 2007
Approval date: 17th July 2007

Called up today and was told that my application has been approved. The documents will be posted today by recorded Royal Mail (I sent the return envelope). I did not send any urgent treatment form.

By 20th I will apply for EC, I may go to the Croydon Office in person on Friday to get my EC under premium processing service which obviously will cost me £500 instead of normal £350.
