Tier 1 (General) Extension without passport

Hi All,

I am in a tricky situation, I had applied for my passport renewal in December but haven't received the passport back yet. I have my visa extension appointment next week and I do not have the passport with me yet.

My Embassy is highly incompetent but I have no way out now. The question is: Can I extend without the passport?

My old passport is valid till Aug 2014 but I wanted to renew it before extending hence sent it for renewal. There is an option on the form that says I am not including the passport as it expired and has been returned back to the issuing authority. Should I be selecting that option??

Any help will be appreciated.

Which embassy did you apply from? Did you get finally?

There is a section in UK VISA renewal form that Passport not submitted - as expired & sent to NAtional authorities....

can we use that while applying for extenstion till we get the passport back....

I'm in similar situation. How did you go about it? Do UK embassy accept without passport?

I have clear email documented evidence and can write a good story in the covering letter, but I'm concerned of the risk of rejection without a valid passport, end up losing £1000's
