Tier 1 general extension - passport gone for renewal

Hi

I have to apply for tier 1 general extension but my Indian passport is submitted to the high commission India for renewal and still haven't received ...

Is it possible to apply for extension without the passport?

I am in same situation...

IThere is a section in UK VISA renewal form that Passport not submitted - as expired & sent to NAtional authorities....

can we use that while applying for extenstion till we get the passport back....

You can submit xerox of your passport and can send them letter along with receipt that you have submitted your passport for renewal. You can also write that you will send your passport as soon as you receive it. These days visa's are not stamped to passport but given as biometric card.

I'm in similar situation. How did you go about it? Do UK embassy accept without passport?

I have clear email documented evidence and can write a good story in the covering letter, but I'm concerned of the risk of rejection without a valid passport, end up losing £1000's

I did that many a times, but they say it all depends on the case worker! What i'm trying to know is, if any one has applied without a passport and if they have been successful?
