Dear Ikon~
my doubt regarding birth certificate - since i lost my old birth certificate, i got a new one done at the beginning of this year(recently) from the local municipal corporation of mumbai (for birth n death).

The birth certificate is signed by the registrar and says that the information is taken from the original record of birth registered.

1 - The problem is that this letter shows an issue date: march 07, so will this be a problem???
though it is original, has a stamp and signed by the registrar!!!

2 - do i need to put this in exceptional evidence??

3 - shall i also include a notarised copy of my passport?

4 - do i have to mention in the cover letter that since i lost my old birth certificate, i got a new one done which was issued recently???

5 - or am i worrying for no reason?? n go ahead and just send the birth certificate and nothing else? (am claiming 20 points)

I had written to Hsmp team regarding this and this is what they had to say -

Dear Applicant

Thankyou for your email.
As long the birth certificate is original and is signed by a registrar this will be sufficient.

Kind Regards

Hi,

My timelines:

Application Submitted: 4th July
Application reached HO: 9th July
Fee debited: 10th July
Got Reference Number and Payment confirmation: 11th July
Sent additional documents: 23rd July
Assigned to caseworker: 25th July
Additional documents reached HO: 26th July

I called HO today. The representative informed me that the case-worker is waiting for my additional documents. As mentioned above, the additional documents reached HO on 26th July. The representative mentioned that she has no information if the additional documents have been linked to the application.

Then I requested her to connect to the case worker. She gently denied the request and suggested me to wait for a few WEEKS.

Most people around my timeline have got their decisions, and I am pretty nervous now. Experienced folks, please suggest, what should be my next step?

Cheers!

Hi,

The form16 is given from April 2006 to March 2007(financial year). Do I need to send the payslips from April 2006 to March 2007 or I need to send the latest payslips from July 2006 to July 2007 i.e., 12 months pay slips.

Best Regards

Dear MarioSuresh~

hsmpguidance_april07 page# 25
Evidence Required
Salaried Employment
If you are claiming points that relate to
salaried employment (including part-time;
temporary; short-term or consultancy work) then
you will need to provide two pieces of evidence
to support the earnings for which you are claiming
points. The two pieces of evidence provided must
be consistent with, and corroborate, each other.
We ask for more than one piece of evidence
in these scoring areas because it is important that
we can clearly establish your salary. Having
different forms of evidence helps us to do this
quickly and efficiently.
In order to demonstrate your total annual
salary before tax you should provide both:
Your income tax return. If the tax year does
not cover the full period claimed other
corroborating evidence is required for the
period(s) not covered. Self-assessment tax
documents are not accepted, as they are not
independent;
Your wage slips covering the entire 12 months
period.
If you work in a country that does not have a
tax system then you should provide two of the
following:
Your wage slips to cover the period
claimed;
Your bank statements covering the period
claimed, as evidence of your income;
A letter from your employer stating your
income as claimed.
hsmpguidance_april07 page# 26
If you are not able to provide an income tax
return and/or wage slips to cover the 12 months
period for which you are claiming for other
reasons, then you will need to provide alternative
supporting evidence in the form of:
Bank statements showing that you received
the salary described for the full 12 month period;
and/or
A letter from your (previous) employer/s
confirming that you received the salary for which
you are claiming.
The evidence that you provide must be
consistent with, and corroborate, each other.
which 12 months are you claiming? you need to provide payslips for the months you claim... if your payslips are computer prints then you need to get them stamped and signed by your employer(HR or finance manager)

you can claim upto 12 months from exactly 15 months prior to application.

I suggest you to read the guidelines. it will answer most of your queries. you can find them on http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/6353/1 ... ?version=1

Hi Guys!!

Sorry for the late updation. MY application has been APPROVED.

a BIG thanks to the forum and all of the members. You all really helped me a lot.

It was approved on the 27th. However when i called yesterday (31st) i came to know that the application has been approved on 30th. I had sent courier arrangement fax around 15 days back even then the documents were mailed by Royal Mail.

Most surprising thing is: i have received my docs today (1st Aug)by normal mail all intact. I was not expecting them this early.

After checking the documents i found that the decision was made on the 27th (Friday) not on 30th (Monday) as it was told to me over the phone.

One more interesting thing when i called yesterday for the status the decision was not revealed to me. However it was my birthday yesterday and the CSR checked my DOB and revealed the decision as APPROVED stating "Birthday Gift".

Anyways it was my story. I also want to help all the members with my experience/little knowledge for the initial application.

Once again thanks for your precious help and support.

Again this forum really ROCKS!!!!

Hi Vinay,

thanks and yes i am in Chandigarh, India. My docs must have been dispatched on 27th (same day the decision was made)and i received them on today (1st).

I would suggest to go and check with your post office and also check with the post man as i have seen circumstances where they do not deliver the mails on time due to their personal problems.

Let us know the outcome.

Hello

My application was rejected today saying that my study was part time so they cant consider my previous income i.e before my studies. I have done my masters in London and international students are not allowed to study part time. Also, It was mentioned on my university letter that mode of study was full time.

Can the members suggest me what should i do in such a position

All the application made after April 2007 must pay £400 for HSMP applications.

Country Code for India is 'D'.

My Application - Need feedback

Post by hsmp_aug » Sat Aug 04, 2007 2:18 pm

Hi All,
I have recently joined this forum and request your assistance with my HSMP application. I am planning to apply this week itself and after much research I have come up with following documents:

1. Academic Qualifications: (For 30 Points Claim) - Sumitting original degree certificate.
2. Age Assessment: (For 20 Points Claim) - Submitting original Birth Certificate.
3. English Language: Submitting original TOEFL (Test of English as Foreign Language) Scorecard/Transcript
4. Previous Earnings – Salaried Employment: (For 45 Points Claim) : Here I need some help from the experienced guys. I am planning to submit following 5 pieces of evidences to be absolutely sure of this.

Excerpts from my Cover letter:

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
a. Income Tax Return (ITR) for financial year 1-April-2006 to 31-March-2007. Please note that as per INCOME-TAX (FOURTH AMENDMENT) RULES, 2007 NOTIFICATION NO.169/2007, DATED 14-5-2007 issued by Government of India (Income Tax Department), SARAL form is not used anymore for filing Income tax returns in India. Instead, for salaried employees, ITR-1 form is used and the same acknowledgement is enclosed with this application.

b. Wage Slips (attested) from May-2006 to April-2007 (covering the entire amount mentioned in the ITR)

c. “Form 16" which is a document generated by the employer for the purposes of an official return to the tax authority. This can also be considered as the 'Personal Tax Return' if the attached Acknowledgement form from the income tax authority is considered to be inadequate. The "Form 16" shows all the details of my gross earnings through salary and calculation of "Gross total income" which is specified in the tax return form (Income chargeable under the Head ‘Salaries’).

d. Bank statement stating the salary claimed for month of April 2007, as the same is not reflected in ITR-1 and Form-16. Please note that this salary would be the "Net Salary" only after deducting the income tax, profession tax and my contributions towards other benefits. This can also be verified in the Payslip attatched with this application.

e. Printout of the page from I.T. Department of India website stating the new rules where SARAL is replaced by ITR forms. The reference link is mentioned below:

http://law.incometaxindia.gov.in/Taxman ... aspx?md=31
Click “Notification: 169; Date of Issue: 14/5/2007â€

Hi Guys,

Just an update on my timelines.

Application sent thru FedEx : July 21
Application received at HO : July 24
Mode of Payment : DD ( UK Cheque )
Payment Clearing : Not known
Reference Number recd : Aug 1

The customer rep told me it would take another two
weeks to be assigned to case worker. But looking at
the timelines posted, I doubt if it will take so much
of time. Will be calling up today to check the status
and request for courier pickup.

The long wait begins !!
