Good News
I got my BRC today.. :D :D
dated 14th of sept, which is the same date as the letter dated and saying my BRC will be sent within 10 working days. Actually only 2 working days. It was surprisingly quick.
The BRC came with a simply paper envelope, and courier came very early in the morning. (this is very good for ppl like us both working)
Oh yes
The whole process is about 4days + 5 months.

Thank you. and good luck.
Congratulations nicholas2222, im really happy for you :D now you can relax

Got my paperwork back 5 mins ago along with the letter saying I'll get residence card within 10 working days : )

They didn't send in the postage bag I gave them for some reason...

FYI, I'm going through as unmarried partner. Perhaps the different types of applications could explain some of the variances in timings. Also, the Home Office didn't contact me, my gf or her employer at any stage.

I just checked the royal mail tracking number with the envelope we sent and it was delivered today, but we were not there! , so probably tomorrow morning I'm going to pick it up, I can update everyone tomorrow.

but it's royal mail... so should I be expecting the documents and hopefully a "your card will arrive in 10 working days?" or do you get RCs through the royal mail as well as through DX? I would really prefer getting the RC right away and be done with the waiting  ...

I'll post something tomorrow, at least I will know. good news or bad news I will finally know something :), but hoping for good news !!!

Applied on April 17th

Hey guys,

Please accept a newcomer :)

Sent my docs on 11th of September, HO received on 14th, they withdrawn the fee on 15th, nothing else yet happened.

Do you know if timelines anyhow depend on the time of the year or it does not matter and its always around 5 months?

Good luck everyone!

Regards,
Anton

Welcome Anton! I also applied in September, so our timelines should be very similar (see my signature). I will compile a list of September people once we start receiving our biometric letters, which should happen between this week and the next.

I do think there are chances that the process speeds up again from September onwards. This time last year the average processing time was 3.5 months, then this year they introduced the BRP card, and it all slowed down again to 5-6 months, and these last months have also been slow likely because of the summer holidays. So there is hope that as they assimilate the new process, and as they come back to work mode, it all comes more speedy again.

But maybe this is me being hopeful.

I know what you mean, and I agree. Provided you have no phobia to paperwork (which it seems it's actually a thing) you can do it yourself.

I am pretty much looking at your timeline, as you are one day ahead of me :D

Hi guys!
I got the RC!!!!!!.. well, the letter that it will arrive in 10 working days ( insert victory dance here  ). Haven't got my full timeline here, but I'll write what I remember...

- I applied on April 17th
- Never got my COA, so I called HO and they send it on June 2
- Requested the passports back
- HO only send my wife's passport
- Called them, told me to wait 10 working days
- After 10 working days called again and they realized the mistake and were going to send mine
- Received mine...
- Got a job using my COA with right to work
- Employer checked the link in the COA and received the right to work, so everything was ok
- 16 of September received all of my ORIGINAL paperwork (not the photocopies) with the residence certificate for my wife and a letter that my card will arrive in 10 working days since 11 of September

Wife German, I'm Chilean
EEA applied as self sufficient
We sent 1.3kg of paperwork
We filled everything ourselves, no need for solicitors really
Marrier for little over a year when we applied
no interviews, phone calls, nothing

Any questions i'll be happy to help!

I have contacted with alitalia airlines, most unhelpful customer services ever.
I decided to buy tickets to italy why my visa is still under considiration.
I have EU residence so there wont be any problem to enter italy, I will try to come back with COA.
We will see if I am going to make it.

I applied on the 7th of May under the surinder singh route too returning from Germany after 9 months, received COA with permit to work, requesting for our passports on the 10th of September, still waiting for passports and RC too, hopefully the RCs will be issued by the first week in October considering the APRIL batch timeline.
Fingers crossed and will update if there is any new development, good luck to everybody waiting for COAs and RCs

Of those who received their RC, has anyone applied for a UK driving license without sending the original biometric card or their passport with a RC sticker to the DVLA? These letters that people are getting informing them the the RC will arrive within 10 days, will the DVLA accept them in lieu of the actual RC? (plus a copy of the RC)

And another question: if you lose your RC (or the DVLA loses it), will the HO replace it within a short period of time or will you have to apply again as if for a new RC with all the supporting documents and wait again 5-6 months?

I'm asking because I don't want to send my RC to the DVLA, I've read online that they lose documents.

Thanks!

You dont need to send RC to DVLA whatsoever.
You just need valid ID ( in your case it is your passport).
Even a tourist can get british driving licence. It is not related with your immigration status in the UK.

I found 1 polish guy got polish passport for me in 1 week, I just paid 500quid and posted my pic. My licence was ready in 1 week. I sent it to DVLA and swap it to british one.

Too much hassle to get licence via DVLA
