a lot of cases are delayed for no reason. it depends on the levels of the inis hormones who deals with these applications. look at the case of 9 months.. they promised within 6 months unless its complicated, however I can see complication here.. someone remind me what is the complication for this 9 months case?

Hi Guys,

I am seeing many posts which complain about prolonged processing of citizenship.

My case is 12 months almost. I applied in December 2014 and got approval this month which is almost an year..

My suggestion is that you need patience until it is done! My spouse's application is still pending (5 months completed). I am so confident.

Hi Plas, I got a reply by email today from INIS; Please read below for the reply:

Hi

Your application continues to be processed with a view to establishing
whether it meets the statutory conditions for the granting of
naturalisation, such as good character and lawful residence, and will be
submitted to the Minister for decision as expeditiously as possible.

It is recognised that all applicants for citizenship would wish to have a
decision on their application without delay. As well as being a
significant event in the life of the recipient, the granting of Irish
citizenship through naturalisation as provided for in law is also a major
step for the State which confers certain rights and entitlements not only
within the State but also at European Union level and it is important that
appropriate procedures are in place to preserve the integrity of the
process.

Regards

Carmel Ryan
Citizenship Section

Please can someone with experience explain what does this contest mean and when would my file likely to leave this stage to the Minister? Please help with a Genuine answer. Thanks

to be honest with you, this means that no garda reports have returned yet (or returned but not checked yet - queuing).. which means it is still in 2nd stage and next step (god know when) will be compiling the application for minister (if they are happy that you ticked all boxes).. my suggestion is to insist on a more transparent / precise location of your application as this shows they are still in early stages and you highly unlikely to get something soon

Darr81 - you applied in may 1st, and pretty much 95% of last approvals are for ppl who applied until mid of july, which means the 2nd round of approvals have skipped you.. you certainly should feel concerned and start to wake them up on your application..

for me, if i do not come in next approval round, I will certainly be pissed off and will make sure to get it within the round using formal/legal route rather than "pathetic call/email" i do everyday

@ banana, you are getting it all wrong. I have already passed the second stage. My gardai vetting came in in october, so they requested for more documents in October, which my solicitor had sent to them. So am just waiting for their feed back. So they email me now that is in processing

Let me clarify:

*inital: they send you a letter confirming receiving the application (1st ack letter)
* first stage: they check that you have all docs, and you pass the condition number one: you wasted 5 years in ireland at least with last year being continuous.. if pass, they send you 2nd ack letter saying you passed to 2nd stage
* second stage: they check garda and rev.. if passed, they put a small report to minister to sign it.. when they send your report and while waiting for the minister, they tell you sent to minister if you contact them, or they tell you in advanced stage
* once signed by minister you get approval letter

so technically, you are still in 2nd stage and your application report was not sent to minister yet

thats no problem.. they are trust worthy and its highly unlikely to be lost by mail unless it was noticeable to contain money but still they cant cash it and you still can refund it/stop it if you believe it havent arrived to them (contact them in 2 days to check)

Thanks banana , they asked me in that letter why my uk visa was refused in 2012, and it came 6 months after the second stage letter.
