AT LAST IT'S OVER. A year or 2 ago (after the 4-to-5 fiasco) I was thinking of leaving for a more hospitable european clime as soon as the shiny red thing was in hand. but no more, for better or worse this is home now. but would I EVER vote Labour? not on your sweet bippy, the LibDems have a voter for life!

Congrats tobiashomer! Glad to see someone else make to the end of a very long road. And thanks for your words on the previous page, I feel so relieved that I too am finally coming to the end of all of this HO nonsense.

By the way, I won't be voting Labour either once I have my passport in hand!

Tier 1 Visa application from US

Post by uk_male81 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 4:49 pm

I have a question.
I am an Indian national currently working on H1B work visa in US for the past 3 years. I had completed my masters degree from UK in 2003. I am planning to apply for Tier 1 General Migrant work visa to UK.
Can you please let me know if i can make a formal application and perform the biometric tests while i am in US or should the application be done from India? Please advice.

Not sure what gave you the impression this was the right thread to ask this question. Try searching/asking here: http://www.immigrationboards.com/viewforum.php?f=2

Hi

Yes, my interview was at Elephant & Castle. It lasted just 3 min: name and date, place of birth, address, parents' name and nationality and names of banking society.

I received the passport by secure delivery on Friday (SMS). The courier was early, 8.20am, so I was still home.

Ok because I was on the same day and I haven't heard anything so i am just surprised. How quickly they pressed your passport and delivered it.
UPDATE ;And strangely enough I just found out that someone in my household signed for it but forgot to tell me.
So much for SMS only premitting the person addressed to can only sign for it.

Questions asked-The interviewer spoke incredibly fast and I told her to slow down before she started her questions. However she kept her pace so I felt compelled to answer as quickly as she was speaking. This is a mistake and I encourage others to ignore fast interviewers and answer slowly. At one point, I realized I interpreted a question wrongly and gave an incorrect answer. By the time I realized it, we were 4 questions down and I didn't feel comfortable turning around to correct it. By not saying anything, it could have backfired and I could have had a delay in receiving my passport so be careful.

1. Full Names
2. Spell the names
3. have i been known by other names
4. D.O.B
5. Country of Birth
6. Town of Birth
7. Parents names, dates of birth and towns/country of birth
8. bank and credit card details (gave one, asked me for second bank to which I gave wrong one because I have interent banking statements which go to another address)
9. referees name
10. referees age (gave a range)
11. referees job details
12. method used for sending application
13. what documents were included in application
14. current address details
15. who else lives at my current address (said I was alone but other people live there so it wasn't the correct answer)
16. Do I know who lived there previously? (answer NO)
17. previous address
18. My telephone number (which I don't know because I don't call myself but did offer I remember the last 3 digits)
19. signature on some sort of electronic pad (twice, as it has to be done just right.)

waiting time for postal application

Post by my_obokash » Sun May 03, 2009 11:29 am

Hi,

I have posted my application on 9th Jan 09 for ILR on 10yrs long residency criteria. Already past 16 wks, still have not got back my passport. Can anybody suggest me what I can do?

Also, the long residence criteria does not allow you to apply for dependants, my dependents visa will be expired on end of June, 2009. on which criteria I will be able apply for them?

Any workable suggestion is very welcome.

Thanks in advance,
my obokash

I rang the HO yesterday and was told to expect at least two weeks wait for your card to be debited and acknowledgement to be received since they are now dealing with applications made on the 15th April. I dont know whether anyone applying after that has heard anything from them.

the date you see online is not when they would have swiped your card. it is normally a day or two before (depends on which system they use to clear the funds like swtich2, PAYMODE... etc etc)

ILR timescales

Post by shinythingsuk » Sun May 10, 2009 3:07 pm

Hi, I don't know whether I'm in the right place but here goes. My partner (Jamaican) has been here as an overstayer for 20yrs now. In May 06 we recieved acknowledgement of his application under the 14yr rule. We've got a 4yr old together and 2 more. THREE years now and nothing! Is this normal? It really starting to get stressful now  and had to get rid of the lawyer as no more funds left.
ANY advice would be greatfully received thanks!
