My sister in law has taken her ESOL test in Dina, and she has been told she will receive her results in a month over the fone. And then after 2 weeks the certificate will be sent. The test itself consisted of 4 modules: speaking, writing, listening, reading.

Anyone else take the same test? Any advice as to what my brother should be doing in the meantime as we wait for the results?

Page 217 in this thread, at the bottom gives a rough idea of all the documents you'll need plus a few more. Check that out, that should put you in good stead. Try to cover aspects which others have been rejected over.

I have read the document and it states..
It is not necessary to send the sponsors passport with the application, instead a certified copy (OF EVERY SINGLE PAGE) of it will suffice. Each page must be stamped and signed by a Public Notary Officer or a Solicitor.
Is this really necessary?

No, you don't need to copy all pages, but I would get the picture page attested, £5 from any local solicitors.

i phoned up the soliciters yesterday and he quoted £5 to certisfy the first page then £2.5 to certisfy any other pages on same passport.

he also quoted £5 to attest sponser documents, which was good as someone mentioned on here it costs £60

The most common reasons for rejection.

1. Lack of proof of communication during the time you were married, this is especially the case for anyone applying more than a few weeks after being married.

2. ECO not understanding job status of a person, ie. someone who's getting paid by Siemens Ltd but works for Siemens etc.

3. English test (even if you've done one to the right standard).

4. Confusion over accommodation, ie. people living with family and not providing enough evidence of the status and a housing report.

There are some others, but 99% of the time all of these are won in appeal. ECOs don't seem to use much common sense in a lot of cases, but sometimes you have to think about the position they are in too.

No, it would break every law under data protection act that is in existence.

It's your responsibility to prove communication not their resposibility to find out.

I very much doubt that sakman.

You can yourself provide emails, screenshots of fb chats, skype calls/mesgs and other such evidence of contact to the ECO.

Why would they? It's not like they are trying to convict a criminal. You'll need to prove it, they won't go checking soemthing like that. They can't legally.

Some of the most common reasons for refusal are as follows:

. Lack of sufficient documents including:

· No evidence that UK based sponsor can maintain the applicant

· Misconception that third party support is allowed (in respect of maintenance)

· Lack of evidence to show adequate accommodation or that there will not be overcrowding

. Marriage not conducted lawfully or accepted as genuine including:

· Lack of contact between sponsor and applicant (i.e. emails/telephones bills/letters)

· Proxy marriages not conducted in accordance with laws of the country in which they took place
