Any Tier-1 (General) new applicants??

dear friends please help me out and give me an advice...

I am a student here in uk and i have applied for tier 1 general on 15 May. My case is about to be assigned to a case worker. I came here in uk in January2005. students are allowed to claim points on the salary earned before the start of study. therefore i sent pay slips from JANUARY 2004 to december 2004 along with the tax documents. These tax documents cover the whole period. one of the case on trackitt has been refused saying 'tax documents are rarely be of use' and his case was similar to my case.


Kindly advice me will i be refused. My case will be decided in next 2 week hopefuly...

Yes you can provide tax documents as long as it exactly matches claim period...& to sucessfully claim points in earning section u need to provide 2 different source of documents..so if ur salaried employee u can provide either ur payslips with or without tax document + bank statement covering the claim period....but not payslips + tax document as both are considered from same source.

Is it one tax document covering Jan.04 to Dec.04?? Or is it more than one tax document which, between them, cover the Jan.04-Dec.04 period?? If former, no problem. But if latter, it will not be considered as valid evidence.

..but not payslips + tax document as both are considered from same source.

Is this something your consultant told you or you think it is so?? Either way, that's not necessarily true!! For example, Saral in India is not issued by an employer, and the P60 in UK, though issued by the employer, is a valid tax document that can be used as an independent evidence *alongwith* payslips (or letter from employer).

Request you both to please read para 110 point 4 of the Tier 1 policy guidance carefully.

Only to the extent that the tax document is self created - as in a tax form filled by the employee. If the tax document is a form issued by the tax authorities it is valid.

dear lokesh. i dont have my bank statments with me as im in the country for the last 3 years. i only had payslips and tax document. Tax documents are the official documents generated by the tax authorities. sushdmehta
it is not 1 document infact 1 tax return covering 6 months and 6 tax challans with tax offcial stamp confirming tax deducted for each month.

dear friends please help me out and give me an advice...

I am a student here in uk and i have applied for tier 1 general on 15 May. My case is about to be assigned to a case worker. I came here in uk in January2005. students are allowed to claim points on the salary earned before the start of study. therefore i sent pay slips from JANUARY 2004 to december 2004 along with the tax documents. These tax documents cover the whole period. one of the case on trackitt has been refused saying 'tax documents are rarely be of use' and his case was similar to my case.


Kindly advice me will i be refused. My case will be decided in next 2 week hopefuly...

Yes you can provide tax documents as long as it exactly matches claim period...& to sucessfully claim points in earning section u need to provide 2 different source of documents..so if ur salaried employee u can provide either ur payslips with or without tax document + bank statement covering the claim period....but not payslips + tax document as both are considered from same source.

i have noticed one thing from the list. there are 2 time lags. 1 between approval and stamping and another between stamping and despatch. But the gap between approval and stamping is going down, so hopefully decisions taken last week, we shud hear smething this week

my tax document was covering july 2003 to june 2004. i sent payslips from jan04 to dec04. there fore tax return was covering only six months of year2004. To cover july04 to dec04 i submitted tax challans. these are kind of tax documents with has a tax official stamp on it. and it is a kind of document which is valid if we read tier 1 guidence. which says

'a document generated by an employer for the purposes
of an official return to a tax authority, showing details of
earnings on which tax has been paid in a tax year'

the following para is worrying me alot

is because tax documents are usually produced at the end of a
fi xed tax period and will therefore not show the entire period for
which the applicant is claiming previous earnings unless they

which they are claiming points.

Is this something your consultant told you or you think it is so?? Either way, that's not necessarily true!! For example, Saral in India is not issued by an employer, and the P60 in UK, though issued by the employer, is a valid tax document that can be used as an independent evidence *alongwith* payslips (or letter from employer).

Request you both to please read para 110 point 4 of the Tier 1 policy guidance carefully.

aamir. i dont want to mean funny, but ur docs dont lok in place. so you have basically submited tax docs for 18 months and pay slips for 12 months.

This will create a confusion. as you pay slips dont corborate with the tax docs, chances of refusal are quite high. try to arange bank statements so that atleast u r ready to apply if you have to 2nd time

Your 2 separate tax documents may not be accepted because the tax documents will be showing how much you have earned from july 2003 to june 2004 and how much tax you have paid from july04 to dec04 and from this the caseworker will not be able to figure out exactly what you have earned from Jan04 to Dec04.
Another thing about challan, it shows how much you paid as tax, but it doesn't show on which amount of earning, you have paid that tax.

If anyone wants challan to be accepted as tax document, he/she needs to get an letter from IT department, saying this much tax is collected on this amount of earning.
From your payslips, the case worker can figure out your eanred amount zzzzzzz. The caseworker needs another document from a different source that confirms the same amount as your earning. Tax document can be used for that purpose, but from the tax documents you provided, the caseworker can never confirm how much you earned from Jan04 to Dec04.
Think of some alternative documents and try to send them to HO.

Can't you request ur bank for old statements? Which bank did u have account? Banks generally give old statement - there may be some charges involved.

If you have any relative/friend in Pakistan who can get those quickly and send you, then you can pass those tho HO before a decision is made.

dear lokesh. i dont have my bank statments with me as im in the country for the last 3 years. i only had payslips and tax document. Tax documents are the official documents generated by the tax authorities. sushdmehta
it is not 1 document infact 1 tax return covering 6 months and 6 tax challans with tax offcial stamp confirming tax deducted for each month.

there is hardly any gap between stamp and dispatch. Both happen on the same day in most of the cases.

Just recd my passport back with 3 yrs visa.I had applied with hsmp approval letter and bank statement showing 800 GBP for 1 month
