It means if resided aboard but if you went to holiday to your home country you don't have provide your home address (bk home).its your holiday not residing abroad..
Now if you stay out from Ireland more than 6 weeks ,you just need give a letter why you were outside of ireland more than 6 weeks..it's holiday and residing mean staying there even for while permanently with work or for living purpose..
You do not have to minus the time of your holiday from the calculator that's why you are giving a cover letter to consider the time you were out which was more than 6 weeks..
If you still confused can email citizenship dept they will explain you..
I was very migrants centre and they explained all to me.

Thanks for your reply. I have applied already and got the approval. . I explained the process I followed. I also took advice from the NCP they told me to deduct the time I spent in India. I personally think this is right because the process is long and not so clear. The application could be delayed by something else but the applicant will blame himself for "oh my god i should have declared that thing. etc" until he will get the result.

The owner had a few apartments in same building he switched me to a few apartments during my 4 years stay. I mentioned each apartment as different address in the application. This will show the attention to details to my case officer.

So better safe than sorry. Everyone has their own point of view. This is mine. Good luck for your application.

We dont know how many people are waiting for approval,i know one of lad he applied since dec 2015 and still waiting for his aproval,two friends of mine told me that, application based on eufam takes long now a days they got their approvals around after 8 and 9 months waiting,In last sep cermony most of people who got their approval were belonged to that batch who applied in 0ct nov dec 2015,

whats is yours opinion?

i always said that and i strongly believe that the applications based on EUfem are least priority for INIS.
i saw many cases. and pending ones too.

i dont want to brag but just for information. my application should be straight forward decision.
i own international trading business ( Not import -Export ). pay lots of tax. No offence at all ever. only been out of Ireland 3 days in last 7 years. i already have 10 years LTR. i am still married. i have great business references . Dublin enterprise support my business.

so applications are definitely not based on merits.
it only about the reason of application. after 6 months my application is still on initial stage.

Hi askeasy,

I say it really depends, I have seen people getting approval who made application in mid May? I applied for my wife late May and we are still waiting for her approval - we have been told by INIS that her application is in advance stages but haven't heard back from them since than. Since the next ceremony is in Dublin therefore I expect good number of people getting their approval.

Hi Everyone,

I am still waiting for my approval, applied on 19th of FEB 2016 based on EUFAM 4. I emailed them in july before my holidays if i am going to be in September batch. Nail replied that it does not look like that you will be in September ceremony. I was waiting for my EUFAM 10 years stamp, which i got in August 2016, as soon i had stamp on my passport, i sent a copy of stamp and gnib to citizen department. after one week they sent me letter that my file has moved to 2nd stage.

I was on holidays just got back to Ireland 2 weeks ago, i emailed citizenship department to check status of my application, Nail responded that my application is continue to be processed. I dont think so i will make for November ceremony now!

we should hope for good always,next cermony is in 25th of nov,if everything runs smooth and on time,approved applicants should get their approval letter before or at 25th of oct then they will get enough time to send relevant documents back to office and get cermony invitation,according to this time scale who so are expecting their approval have only 11 working week days,according to my calculation

Hi All,
I understand how it feels to wait and wait for the Good news ! and i somehow agree with some people as EuFam might take longer then other applications but at the same time i don't agree with this.
Just Spoke to some one recently who is from SouthAsia applied for Naturalization on 27 Nov 2015 , Acknowledgement in Mid December 2015 , Second Stage in End of jan2016 and Approval in March and was in the April 2016 ceremony, this is just one exceptional case there are many who got approval soon, so hopefully we all be sorted soon.
Furthermore, its too hard to say why some cases take longer and many of us have different assumptions, It is all about LUCK i strongly believe in it. But one this is for Sure that these days no one is Getting SECOND Stage letter its just acknowledgment and straight approval or decision letter.
I am not sure if this is a good idea or not but if any one who is waiting for over 6 month can ask their local TD to send email to Minister to check , this sometime work to get your application process quickly , i am not sure if this is true , as this is my own assumption.
The only reason for now all files are delay due to the large number of application due to Brexit , i hope the department get new people hired and this may be good but sometime can be bad as new recruits very often are not well aware of cases and might ask for more documents.
So to all in this forum , once again i wish you all the best please keep posting some good cases with timeline if you know a friends or some one who you come across.
From me i got Acknowledgment and nothing else. Last week i emailed them and all i get is the same answer as many of you got " your file is still in process , we cannot provide you exact time frame. this office will be in touch with you as soon as decision is made"

Application Received by INIS: 31 Aug 2016
First acknowledgement letter: 15 Sep 2016
Second acknowledgement letter: 10 Oct 2016 (today)

App based on 5 years in the state, EU citizen

"...your application has now been initially assessed and has proceeded to the second stage of processing. Your case will be submitted to the Minister for decision..."

My application posted under new conditions. Original passport posted back with first ack letter after 2 weeks.

I personally know another 2 people who has applied for naturalisation July 2016 and Aug 2016 (with original passport received back after 2 weeks) and both got First ack letter in 2 weeks since INIS received their applications.

do u know about other 2 persons you mentioned ,the time frame of their application ? did they get second letter too? if so whats the basis of the application?

3rd letter received 20 May and saying they
received my spouse documents .

After that i did not got any letter from them.

And July I send them email for update my applications
I got this response after 3days from department:-

Hi *******

Your application is currently being processed. While it is not possible to
give an exact timeframe, this office will be in touch as soon as a decision
has been reached.

its means that they want to process your application now from Initial stage. now they realised that GNIB is not update so they have asked for it. seems like it will take some time
