IT market

Post by bond011 » Tue Apr 01, 2008 10:47 pm

This is for all those who are willing to come to UK and search for jobs in the IT field. The market at the moment is in very pathetic condition. hardly any interviews coming up these days. Contract jobs r scarce, so people who r planning to cme to UK and acquire a job should think twice b4 they land here.
May be once the market stabilizes u people can plan out properly....
one of my frnd having arnd 5 years of exp in IT field is searching for a contract job frm past 2 months..
now the UK govt has removed 2 step visa process and converted it into single stage, just to make money. In old rules if a guy's application was rejected in the first step then he wuld nt go for second stage and the govt wuld have lost some money, but now everyone has to shell out full amount in the very first stage...i am nt discouraging anyone....just postpone ur plans till market stabilizes....

Just called them and this time I got a sensible answer regarding the status of application. My application was received on 13th of February with the case number 2502**. Turned out it wasn't assigned a case worker yet :? , but is on top of the pile and will be reviewed this week ... Makes one wonder how the pile is organised. I had an offer to start work on the 1st of April, but my urgent treatment was not only ignored, but seems to have moved my application to the back of the pile. Way to go ...

For Salman Ghani

If documents were dispatched on 13 March through mail and have not been received till date than there are chances that these have been lost in transit. I am saying that due to a similar instance as air mail from UK to Islamabad takes maximum seven days.
Best wishes that you receive your original documents. But late than never.

just called HO to check the status of my application 2557** but they refused to even take my reference number as my application was not older than 14 weeks. I sent my application on th 26th Feb.

Its weird waiting for status. I am already in UK on WP and switching to HSMP. have already resigned my job and cant get a new one until I get the approval and LTR.

Hmmm, not good, they've changed the service times on the website:

Our service standard is that we will decide:

* 50% of applications within five weeks
* 90% of applications within 14 weeks.

We are currently deciding:

* 95% of applications within 14 weeks.

Regrettably, due to a sudden increase in the number of applications, HSMP applications are currently taking longer than normal to consider. Therefore we are currently unable to meet our first service standard of 50% of applications within five weeks. We ask you please to bear with us during this busy time.

Currently the HSMP department has been restructured and significantly less people are left dedicated to dealing with HSMP.

I got a PM regarding the need for leaving UK in order to stamp your passport. If you are in UK on a Student Visa, Work Permit or IGS you definitely do not need to leave UK for a stamp, your visa can be upgraded. Same goes for dependants, your dependants do not need to apply for same visa as you are, they can remain dependants and they will also be stamped in country.

Application received by HO: 18/02/2008
Reference Number: 2511xx
HSMP fee deducted: 19/02/2008

I emailed the HO but got an automated message noting that they are experiencing high application volumes and that were unable to meet their first service standards. Who knows how long... Waiting...

I applied from Nigeria but got my UK contact to post my application for me so it got there within 1 day. 19th Feb
Application reference: 2516*

I also tried e-mailing the home-office a week ago but got an automated responce. The only reason I knew a decision had been made is b/cos I requested courier pick-up. So I was alerted by a caseworker once they made the decision and the docs were ready.

Did you request a courier to pick up your documents? I applied a day before you and am yet to hear anything.

nopse - i'm relying on ordinary mail. i think it will take around 2 Weeks for documents to be in PK (though i wonder how they transport their snail mail which takes 10-15 days for shipping :|)
