unemployed and managed to citizenship

Post by room1102 » Tue Sep 01, 2009 2:18 pm

Just wondering. Did anyone manage to get citizenship granted by INIS and lost their job before INIS requesting additional documents?

Thx

Try either of these numbers :
Telephone (within Ireland)
062 - 32500
Lo-call 1890 252 854

I have gotten replies from either of them.

This may be a silly question but on the approval letter it asks for the 950 euro fee, passport photos, GNIB card and original travel document (if applicable) can someone tell me what the original travel document is? Is this a passport or what am I supposed to send?

Thanks!

Hi
This is the travel document held by asylum seekers. This request does not apply to you if you are not applying through that route. Just send all other required documents and best of luck

Stopped calling ages ago. Seems they were prioritizing the 06 backlog, but that itself appears to have slowed down a bit, possibly due to summer break. Hopefuly things will start to pick up again soon

Sorry, a bit off topic:

I hope the article is correct in general, and not full of stuff like that:
...The EEA comprises the EU, Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein and Switzerland...
Switzerland is NOT part of the EEA.

There are some deals giving Swiss people the same rights as EEA-citizens hold (and vice versa), but that doesn´t change that Switzerland is NOT an EEA member. (Actually I wish they were, but that´s a different story)

I hope the article is correct on all other accounts. :)

INIS Requests

Post by Cofimvaba » Mon Sep 07, 2009 11:47 am

My friend just received a letter from the INIS requesting for the following

1. A copy of your Notice of Assessment for last yr 2008.
2. A copy of your current Tax Clearance Certificate.
3. A copy of your current Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) card.

He applied in August 2006, and all this time he's been told that his application is with Outside Agencies.

Now can someone please tell us what a Notice of Assessment is and how we can get it.
How quick can he get a Tax Clearance Certificate from the Revenue?

Has anybody had any correspondence with the INIS regarding their application? A few weeks ago they were processing applications but now they have come the a abrupt halt!

Not sure about the notice of assessment but the turnaround for the tax clearance certificate is about a week and can be done online.

Hi cofimvaba, did he not submit these documents last year like the rest of us or is it the first time he is submitting it?

What is your notice of assessment?

The notice of assessment we send you is an itemised account of the amount of tax you owe on your taxable income. It also contains other details that are not part of the assessment, such as the amount of credit for tax you have already paid throughout the income year.

Definition from Australia (must be the same with the Irish, check with Revenue.

See link http://www.ato.gov.au/individuals/conte ... /16018.htm

Has your friend been self employed ? does he owe taxes ?

!
This can be got from the revenue. It's basically an outline of all your revenue, tax credits etc....alsmost like the p21. Tell your friend to sepcify to the revenue office that he needs a Notice of Assessment

The first three hits of this search look promising.

A notice of assesment is issued when you file your tax return for the year with the Revenue, for example, when you file form 11 if you're self-employed or if you've capital gains apart from your employment.

I really like to know if your friend is self-employed or if he is employed by someone or some company. If he is employed and they're asking him this, then it'd be strange on their part since P21 should be sufficient

I dont think he was asked this information before, otherwise he would have known what a Notice of Assessment is.

Hi guys

Here's my story. I've started contracting since I applied way back in 2006. They asked for tax docus sometime in 2008 I think and I provided it. Then in 2009 they asked again. I get the impression if you go into the following tax year they check again just to make sure you didn't stop paying in the mean time.

Regardless, my tax wasn't even due (only in OCT 2009) but I paid it and got the payment confirmation (form 11-somthing?) and then the notice of assesment. If you pay online you immedately get the F11 and then (maybe a week) later you get the full official letter.

I've recently been approved so the F11 and notice seems to have done the trick. I did politely remind them though that the taxes I paid wasn't due yet and they they already had the previous year's info.
