Protest

Post by JonPaula » Mon Feb 11, 2013 1:24 pm

I have just tried to ring the UKBA and they are no longer accepting phone calls!!!!!

After Saturdays article in the Guardian the only thing to do now is protest.

Who would be interested in meeting outside the Sheffield branch?

Jon

Congrats!

Jon: I think if you press 9 the whole time you might get through - they seem to have introduced a new automated messaging system to avoid having to pick up. Someone else posted earlier saying they had an i Phone app that let them get through, Q4YOU of something?

Xiaozhu, many thanks again for your advice on the Parliamentary Ombudsman. I've sent my request for PO involvement to my MP today via recorded mail.

JonPaula - I too had issues calling. I wanted to make sure that my app wasn't already being considered before involving the Parliamentary Ombudsman but had the call ended no matter what I tried. With regard to protesting - this would have to be planned/done very carefully. If tempers flared and it got violent (not saying it would, only that there's obviously a risk) everyone involved could risk deportation: http://www.itv.com/news/update/2013-02- ... portation/

icetort2012 - Congrats! I'm very excited to see your news; from your siggy you submitted bios the same day I did, so I'm hugely hopeful that I will be up soon!

Council Tax bill has been changed recently, and has his name, and was back dated!

He couldnt open a bank account as back then didnt have his name on the council tax bill.

Just called UKBA and lady suggested send anything you have plus a covering letter to explain the situation. Separate letters addressed to him at the same address also count....he has a Tesco Club card...thankfully they dont need a VISA for that!
Can't understand how they can ask you for 2 years when the Fiance Visa is only granted for 6 months.

Mad ... I think the UKBA and the UK Government (Tories) are making it difficult for people to get married...No tax exemptions for family (unless u have children)...difficult family immigration process... meaning they are just not encouraging people to get married...

may be they are thinking people are wasting too much money on wedding ceremonies (joke)

As posted previousy, I requested my MP to chase UKBA and had reply from my MP today saying "Application has been processed and will be posted today". Not sure what it exactly meant as I also requested Spouse passport(not main applicant) through letter last week. I am not leaving home tomorrow until the postman arrives :). Let see and hope for best. Here is my time line

Applied : 1st July 2012
Biometric: 8th Sept 2012
Docs : Waiting

For example, if you only make £18,000 a year, you are 'short' £600 of the £18,600 requirement. So you'd need an additional saving of £600 x 2.5, which equals £1,500. So savings of £16,000 + £1,500 = £17,500 in total).

This savings clause confuses me further - do they need us to have a combined income of £18,600 PLUS £16,000 of savings? Or is it just preferred to have savings? Confusing!)
Please refer to this post for clarification and/or you can also refer to Page 28 of FM 1.7
Thanks for this Damanisshallo, really helpful!

More documents Requested

Post by curlyk » Tue Feb 12, 2013 11:06 am

Hello All,

subsequent to husband receiving a request for more documentation / evidence yesterday, we managed gather everything that was required and send it this morning, 1st class recorded. So UK BA case worker should get it tomorrow.

Has anyone else had experience of requiring to send more documentation, and if so, how long after that have people received a decision?

Thanks

Hello, they asked us for the following;

bank statements, Payslips, original Documents showing property ownership, letters addressed to my husband and me jointly.

They also asked us to complete section 7B of the form...i think because my husband entered before the July changes as a fiance he falls under the old rules...? but not sure. We had filled out the form assuming the new rules applied.

We had sent the documents you mentioned, but i think the my land registry document was the copy rather than the original - they both look pretty much the same. And then in addition, given I am the landlord, i wrote a letter this time stating that my husband lives with me! All a bit silly to be honest!

Regarding income evidence, i provided my p60 and a few payslips the first time. We thought that would be sufficient...apparently not. It wasnt an issue of the income but just the evidence, which again, a little silly, but they are making sure they have ticked all the boxes.

Xiaozhu- I was told by MP yesterday that they have dispatched the document. I called UKBA today and they confirmed that my documents has been sent out today and have given me Royal Mail tracking refrence. Have you tried calling UKBA to get an update?

Just spoke to the UKBA and they said that our application was still being processed and we'd have to wait. When I told them our MP said a decision had been made on 6 Feb she put me on hold for a bit, then said she had limited access to our information and I would have to ask my MP again. I think it's because our application was made less than 6 months ago?

Probably yes - I have been told outright that applications less than 6 months old do not exist in the computer system at the Immigration Enquiry Bureau.

Xiaozhu: I had exactly the same response when i called them yesterday three times. But when i called them today twice, first time they said that it has been dispatched but do not know when and second time when i called today an hour ago they confirmed when it was dispatched and gave me royal mail ref number.

I would still stick to what your MP said as that information is more reliable. I personaly think like they have delay in processing application, they also have delay in posting applications. I suggest call them as many time as possible and there will be atleast one nice person there who would be honest.
