Shubi, you 5 year clock starts from the day you enter the UK. So, your arrival date will not count in your "days out of the UK".

Hi Paul ..thanks for ur reply . But my visa is valid for 3 yrs initially , so say out of these 3 yrs , I spend 2 yr 9 months ...& then I can apply for 2 yrs FLR , so my total stay is 4 yrs 9 month ...will I be eligible for ILR then ?
So, what I am saying is ..if I delay my arrival in UK ..the same time is getting short from my 5 yr tenure in HSMP ..because I can't stay more than 5 yrs in UK on a Tier-1 ..right ?

Yes got ILR and subsequently citizenship.
