Hi Niruv,

Hearty Congrats ! :D
and Thank you very much for all the details ... Well Done ...

I am also applying for 'Switching from HSMP to Tier1' in Aug/09, as my visa is going to expire in Nov/09.

Could you please let me know what did you reply for the below :

D5. Are either the applicant’s current and/or any one of his/her previous passport(s) or travel
document(s) that he/she has used to travel to, and remain in, the United Kingdom which
shows his/her current leave unavailable?

Yes - go to question D6
No - go to question D11

In Aug'09, my current leave to remain = AVAILABLE.
So, the reply for the above is NO. Am I right?

Bcoz, if you say 'Yes', only then, the below questions are to be filled & otherwise not :

D6. At which port did the applicant enter the United Kingdom?
D7. How did the applicant enter the United Kingdom?
>> Air
>> Sea
>> Channel Tunnel

D8. Give details of the journey, including where the applicant travelled from, ticket booking or reference number, and transport operator.
>> Details of journey
>> Ticket booking or reference number
>> Transport operator

D9. For what purpose did the applicant enter the United Kingdom?
D10. When did the applicant arrive in the United Kingdom?

D11. What is the applicant’s current immigration status in the United Kingdom?

Sorry ... if my doubt is stupid ... I just want to be on the safer side.

Thanks & Best Regards,
Ashwath

Dependent ltr in person

Post by ssm_73 » Thu Apr 16, 2009 7:21 pm

Gents.

I am on tier 1 general. My wife is on a work permit, and both are in uk.
Is it possible to get a dependent visa done in person in PEO? I mean - getting a dependent tier 1 for my wife?

Many thanks

Hi Niruv,

Thank you for your detailed input/time.

I have 2 questions.

1) When you applied for Tier1,I hope you claimed points for age. Did you get the same point you claimed in your initial HSMP appln or new Tier1 age reference you took.

2) Did you produce any documents to confirm that the name in the degree certificates and passport are same. (In Tamilnadu,we will not have our surname in the certificates) I have got a notary public's certificate to produce.

From looking at the conversation, it is clear that you had not been asked any such questions.

Thanks,
Priya.

Sid: I am not sure. But if you could send your application thru postal within
UK, then you can book an appointment for this as well. Better call on: 08706067766 and find it out.

AshwathCR: Answer for D5 is NO.

Priya:
1) Yes I claimed points for Age. Age criteria for initial HSMP and Tier 1 extension are diferrent.

2) Yes I have produced my original masters certificate. Even if you have initial on your certificate, that will do. But I haven't given any notary certificate.

@ Niruv.

Thanks for such a vivid description of uor experience at the PEO.

You said that the staff said 'Yes he is economically active'.. what does this mean? do they mean that there had been transactions carried out from the maintenance a/c or salary has been flowing into the a/c?

Both my maintenance and salary are shown from same account.
When you prove ur earnings and maintenance that mean that u are economically active

I am employee of my own company. My accountant gave me P60. Not all companies might give

I believe the above to be incorrect according to the guidiance.
The age score is the same provided you apply within the 2 year frame of your renewal.

for example, if when you applied for HSMP you were awarded 20points for been 27 years and under, by the time you extend your visa (after 2 years), you ll still be able to claim 20 points for being 29 years and under.

I stand to be corrected.

Saayinla - Thats what i mean
Age for initial applications
Under 28 years of age: 20 points•
28 or 29 years of age: 10 points•
30 or 31 years of age: 5 points•

Extension
Under 30 years of age: 20 points•
30 or 31 years of age: 10 points•
32 or 33 years of age: 5 points
Is Age criteria for initial HSMP and Tier 1 extension not diferrent ?

Adding to that... she just asked my name and date of birth and given a reference number, quite amazed thought she'd ask for the passport number.

Good stuff Niruv...Congrats and thanks for sharing your experience.

I am quite surprised they are renewing visas for applications whose lease is expiring almost after a year and that too from the date the visa is expiring (your friend's example).

Can you please also share the documents you attached with your application so that we all are at the same page...

No appointments available at any PEO??

Post by rkrohela » Thu Apr 23, 2009 9:38 am

Hello,

I called up the HO Number at 08706067766 yesterday as well as today at 9 am, got through by 9.15 or 9.20 and they say all appointments upto 6 weeks are booked!!

Now that is weird that they do not book beyond 6 weeks. Is there any other number or way to get an appointment? Experienced members please guide.

Hi, I am also switching from HSMP to Tier 1 and my leave runs out in July.

For the in person application, do we need to fill out the forms ourselves or do they do it for us?

I also assume I don't need to show my degree again as it was submitted with my original HSMP?

Many thanks!

Hi Guys,

I have applied for extension/switch from HSMP to tier-1 in last week of Feb and still getting status "under consideration" when I called HO.

I am just wondering in worst scenario, whether I can take in-person appointment now and apply in person in worst case scenario when I get back my passport, because my visa is expiring on Jun 14th.

My question is do we need to Pay fee up-front when we take appoinment [I read in previous post that paid fee during the visit?]

also how easily can we cancel appointment?

Thanks,
VT
