count me in. I already emailed my MP and the home office. My girlfriend has done the same.
Like other people here, I am willing to invest time and money. Sick and tired for being treated so unfairly.

As suggest by timefactor, (good suggestion), I am going to send out the hi email to all of us has PM their email address to me. I am going to send it around 9 -10 pm today, so if you have forgot to PM me please send it ASAP as there are some of us has showed they want to support in this post but I have not got their email yet. if you can not PM me as mentioned by timefactor, there are some technical problem in this web, please email me to tutuwang1005 at yahoodotcom.

Also as I agree to meet up with those who would like to meet up during this weekend. We could all meet in a bar. oh... even only think about it make me fell exciting. It seems like a special thing to do in the life. Hehe…

I suggest if a lot of us agree to have a protest, I think next Weekend will give us enough time to prepare, such as bring friends and asking media etc, and not too late.

Another thing -- have anyone of you called two solicitors listed in the link? I have tried one, they are pretty nice but I do think it would be great if someone here have some knowledge of law could write something to say what is our concern and what we would like them to challenge because I believe even Solicitors have not thought this issue through yet. We need to give them some ideas. What do you think?

I emailed my MP on Wednesdy to raise concerns about the recent change in Immigration. Got a reply yesterday. He says he has raised this issue with Home Office and will come back to me when he gets a response.

Lets see..

Hi ,

Couple of my friends got a reply from their MPs stating that they have raised the issue with HO and will get back as soon as they hear from HO .

I have spoken to my MP office this morning , they said that my letter just reached the MP in queue . They should get back to me in a couple of days .

Any other updates there ..???

Thanks,
Andhra Guy.

Article in The Times

Post by mariosh05 » Mon Mar 20, 2006 10:53 pm

Finally and for the first time in a major UK media, an article was published today in page 18 of the Times (Letters to the Editor section) on the subject of the new ILR rule. The article title is "Overseas workers deserve better treatment" written by Jana Bakunia, a russian living and working in the UK.

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0, ... 83,00.html

I am planning to send the article by email to MPs, Home Office, other newspapers etc.......

This girl is great! We need to continue our campain and our voice will be heard! I do not think they will change from 5 to 4 but at least we will gain some more time for transition period.

i agree it's really hard to make them change the rule back to four years but perhaps we could convince them to appy this law only to new comers.

together we'll succeed

p.s. i'll try to notify as many people as possible

There is some progress in another forum (sorry, because the main language there is not English so I did not put the link address here). The first meeting will taking place today regarding to using solicitor and other issues. I will feedback the whole thing to you guys later.

We are planning to have a meeting with those who are supporting the change of retrospective date of new rule. If you are supporting, please PM your email address to me for group emailing.

Received the following reply from the Home Office:

"Dear Mario

Thank you for your enquiry.

The announced changes in the immigration rules will come into effect on
April 3rd 2006.

Any concerns you have should now be addressed to your local MP.

> Yours sincerely

As if they have asked the MPs before announcing the new rule!

I am bit confused with the above reply .. Why did they ask you to address your concenrs to your MP ..? What was your initial mail to HO ?? where did MP come into picture . Appreciate your reply.

I sent two emails to the HO. In the first email I have complained about the change in the ILR rule and why applying such rule retrospectively is unfair in my opinion.
In the second email, I copied the text of a letter posted on this web site in relation to the same subject.
The reply of HO is a clear proof (not that we need one) of their incompetence. They pass a new rule which affect foreign workers and then they ask the affected foreign people to contact british MPs to protest!!

My MP's response

Post by rooi_ding » Wed Mar 22, 2006 7:42 pm

I have received a letter today from my MP Steven Pound (North Ealing) which comes across as quite sincere in my concerns with the recent changes, he has written that he will take up the mater with regards to introducing the change retrospectively with Mr Tony McNulty minister of Immigration

Not to sure if I should be sceptical but at least it was a response, the letter is dated the 20th, 3 days after I emailed
