I have replied back to caseworker through email that I have provided documents as per the requirements mentioned in AN Guide and Gov.UK. I have also posted the printout of points-based calculator again showing 35 points for qualification and 10 points for english level. However, previously along with the application I have submitted printout of points-based calculator showing only 10 points for english. Home Office did not mention number of points one should get in the points based calculator. PBS says as follows "degree taught in English equivalent to a Bachelor's
degree or above in the UK. How would you like to claim points for English language skills?
I have a UK Bachelor degree-equivalent qualification (or above) that was taught in English"

Degrees taught or researched in English
You’ll need to prove your degree was both:

· taught or researched in English
· confirmed by UK NARIC as the equivalent of a bachelor’s, master’s or PhD degree in the UK

You’ll need your original degree certificate and one of the following:

· a printout from the points-based calculator with the equivalent level of your degree and the level of English
· an original letter or certificate from UK NARIC confirming the equivalent level of your degree, plus an official letter from your university with your name and degree confirming that your degree was taught in English
· an original and official certificate from your university confirming the degree was taught or researched in a majority English-speaking country (except Canada)

I would like to know from the members if 10 points are sufficient or do I have to show points for qualification aswell? I have sent printout anyway.
Do I have to provide UK NARIC letter as caseworker's request even when I have submitted the print of the points-based calculator?

I really appreciate if someone can advice on this.
Where have you done your degree from UK or Abroad?
Abroad. In India. But I get 35 points for degree and 10 for english level. I only showed 10 points with the application. As I thought it would be enough as it is equivalent to UK degree taught in english. Now after receiving the letter and after reading different forums, I have sent another printout of points based calculator showing all points. 35+10=45. Suggestions by members in other forums are not very consistent. Some say 10 points are enough and some say 10points + points for qualification are required. How many points are actually required? and another main question is can I not provide UK Naric letter as requested by caseworker Instead point him to PBS as suggested in the guide?

Hi Krig_g,

What you have done is correct, One of my friend queried Home office earlier and the below was received from them for some reason I was unable to attach the whole document, If you want give me your email id.

I think case worker might have missed your PBS points, Hopefully now it should be fine and also earlier did you mention in your notes that you have attached PBS along with the form?

Thanks,

Sirish

6. Will my degree meet the requirement?
If you have a qualification that was taught or researched in English you can meet the
language part of the requirement if:
- Your qualification is deemed by UK NARIC to meet the recognised standard of a
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or PhD in the UK, or
- Your qualification was taught or researched in an English speaking country other
than Canada (see list below).
You will need to send your certificate as evidence of your qualification.
7. How do I show that my qualification is deemed by UK NARIC to be the
recognised standard?
UK NARIC regularly update the online points based calculator (which is on our website)
with information about various degrees. If you obtained a degree overseas and were
awarded 20 points or more for your degree, and an additional ten points for English
language, you can submit evidence from the online points calculator, together with the
original degree certificate, to demonstrate that you can satisfy the English language
element of the Knowledge of Language and Life in the UK (KOLL) requirement. (See Q7 and Q8 below also.)
Alternatively, you can obtain confirmation from UK NARIC that your qualification was taught or researched in English by requesting an English Language Assessment (ELA). (UK NARIC will only issue an ELA for a degree that is comparable to a UK degree, so it will not be necessary to also request a Statement of Comparability.)
8. How do I show that I have points for my degree and points for English?
If you want to use the calculator to show that you meet the KOLL requirement, you should access the calculator as a Tier 1 (General) migrant. If your qualification compares to a UK degree it will be awarded at least 20 points, and 10 additional points if it was taught in English,

I have been lurking here for 3 months and finally I see the 3 magic words - "has been approved". Awesome birthday present. Thankyou all for such a great site. Now off to join the passport queue but will return in January when my wife submits her citizenship application.

Note: For some reason BA didn't return my Like in UK certificate after ILR. For citizenship application I submitted a printout of the scan that I took before submitting ILR and explained on page 15. Apparently this was fine.

Best of luck to those still waiting, it shouldn't be long now.

Thanks for the updated sheet, Arvind, and congratulations to all those who have received their approvals. Sad to say we still haven't received my husband's approval, but I remain hopeful that it will arrive any day now. Just dissapointing seeing approvals for applications made after his, but I guess I should have expected that since they seem to process applications in random order sometimes.

I must admit that I'm also more than just a little hacked off (and becoming more so with every passing day) that the £900-odd for this process somehow couldn't cover 37p (the difference between 2nd class and 1st class postage on an A4 envelope), and one is not even given the option to pay for different delivery options (since we would gladly have forked out for overnight special delivery if we'd been given the option, and I'm sure this sentiment is shared by many of you).

I'll be sure to come and update you all once we finally receive my husband's letter.

Would you mind telling us why were you called for an interview? and what did they ask? (Just curious as never heard anyone going for interview as part of their naturalisation application)

Dear All,

Today (1st of October) I received the HO letter dated 26th September asking to submit original Driving licence counter part. As I remember I did mentioned that I have over speeding offence since that was first one I was offered speed awareness course, not points claimed on licence. I think this is may be the reason they were asking for original DVLA paper part.

I will send this document tomorrow with first class mail. As mentioned before I will keep you posted.
