Glasgow PEO said they cannot assess my application as I'm with a Self Employed / Limited Company situation. They wasted my day and I lost a day's wage. Imagine IT Contractor's daily rate.

Also they couldn't confirm me if any other PEO could assess my application, it was just their word and I repeatedly ask if they can confirm, so I will go anywhere and get it done in a day. Simplay I'm no fan of this waiting game...

Yet again I badly want to buy a house after all this waiting game for almost 9 years.

I couldn't get any appointment online or over the phone before my current leave runs out, so I had to post my application. It's all UKBA's fault. If they had mentioned that Glasgow PEO is unable to assess Self Employed people, I would have go elsewhere it is possible.

Now I am dare to buy the house I fell in love with and my current status and not having a passport handy has put me helpless.
Banks offer better rates if you have ILR, if not your monthly repayment could be as more as £750. I can buy another Bimmer for my wife with that money...

My application was delivered to UKBA exactly a week ago, but still neither the money taken from my card nor acknowledgement letter :(

To make things even delayed now you have to give the Biometrics...

Can anyone please help here... probably who's in the same situation like me...

What could be the earliest I would get my passports back?

How long that would be from the date of your Biometrics taken?

Thanks in advance.
You shud keep at atleast 4 Months time in ur mind....

dsbos, on the UKBA website, they say that they aim to process 95% of all postal applications withing 6 months. My application is a straight forward one and I've been waiting 6 months and a week now. I've tried to ask my agents and my local MP to follow up and that has had no influence. I'm afraid you'll just have to wait until your application is processed in the UKBA's own time and be prepared to wait up to 7 months. Hopefully yours will be approved quickly and mine will come in soon. It can be frustrating but there seems to be very little one can do about it once it's been submitted.

anyone else think its a bit cheeky that apparently the postage is taking a lot of time - when we have paid for the postage and included the envelope in our applications? i could understand that maybe their was a budget or something?
or can anyone tell me why its held at postage so long?
today makes it 6 months - still no sign. called ukba last week and it hadn't been done yet - wouldn't bet on a changed status this week. one can only hope it comes through soon! desperate to go home and see my family!
long wait will be worth it though - may not see it that way at the moment!
God willing it all comes through soon, best of luck to those waiting :)

Any benefit from contacting your local MP?

Post by aharar » Mon Apr 23, 2012 7:51 pm

Dear All,

Have any of you seen a real benefit in contacting your local MP to expedite your ILR applications?

I have contacted mine and the MP and his office have been quite active in follow-ups with me and the Home Office. They have mentioned to me that they "...are now pursuing my application via the Home Office’s special email service for MPs".

Appreciate if anyone on this forum can share their experiences in this matter and if it has helped them in receiving their passports anytime sooner.

Regards,
Ali

My local MP has contacted the UKBA twice and the response has always been that they will expedite the application as a matter of urgency but the last time my MP called them was over a month ago at the beginning of March. Still nothing yet and it's been over 6 months. It's clear that calls from MPs, agents or solicitors has no influence on the processing times. If someone has David Cameron as their MP then it may help but otherwise there seems to be little hope. I have resorted to counting the weeks instead of days now.

I have written several emails, letters and faxes to the UKBA all without answer. I also emailed and wrote to my MP also without a response. Then I called his office and spoke to the staffer there that deals with visa applications and he was very helpful. He said he would check on it and I should call in a week. I just got off the phone with him, and he said that a decision has been made about my application. I should hear from the UKTI in the next week or so.

I am wary of getting too excited but at least it seems that there is some sort of movement. My application was sent Dec. 1 so it has been a loooong time of waiting! As an aside, I will never send off my passport again. The extra money would have been well worth paying to avoid the months of stress and wonder about when I would get my passport back. Lesson learned!

MP letters are helpful, it's not useless, all depend how good is your MP.The only way to know anything from UKBA is MP.

i saw Mann2000's post a couple of pages back that after 6 monyhs he got a reply that no decision has been made and you have to wait.
And when he got his passport back it was stamped on 19th of march. that is surprising that they are providing a wrong status on the applications. But the question is why are they doing this. Is there any reason you can think of?

My MP said that the UKBA is not able to give any indication of when an application will be finalised. All they can do is write a letter but I'm not convinced that the UKBA will react to the letter. Those who has had their passports returned shortly after their MP made enquiries is, in my opinion, coincidence and would have received it that time even if their MP hadn't made any enquiries.

RQI your experience looks not to match with many,as I have seen in this thread that mostly get passport as their MP contact UKBA,but it looks you are also not lucky in sense of having MP who can follow UKBA regularly,if u ask your MP to ring them rather than writing,it can bring some news for you.Otherwise no way one can get any information from UKBA.

Strongly suggests they are 'massaging' the figures. I wonder about the legality of doing this!

My MP called them twice on the dedicated MP hotline to the UKBA and still nothing. I wonder if they can ask for the actual case worker who is dealing with my case. That seems like te only way.

Facts difficult to digest ............

Hi,
I had sent in my 1st letter to my MP after 3 months of application.
She got a letter from UKBA that no case worker was alloted.
I responded to that letter.

MP wrote that she can only make enquiries about progress of application. She did quote that she has written to UKBA about me in a positive light.
(GOD knows what positive things she has written).

I was frustrated and I wrote to MP that I am not satisfied by her response and I also wrote to her about the difficult times in which UKBA has put me by refusing me PEO application and costing me change with a potential top fortune 500, mental stress, life on hold etc etc.
I asked her that in case she is not in a position to liase with UKBA after being ex-member of parlimentary affairs on immigration then she needs to write to Immigration Minister. I marked CC to Damian Green

Alternatively, I wrote a letter to Damian Green stating the facts. That was after 4 months of application. I asked him that I went to PEO and was ready to pay premium fees and I was forced to make postal application. I also wrote that for my applicationn to be treated urgently, I am ready to pay premium fees difference to convert my postal application to premium.

I got my ILR approved after 5.5 months.

Today after 2 weeks of getting my passport, I received a letter from UKBA stating that they did get my letter from Damian Green. They tried to explain that my application was not straightforward and hence PEO directed me to make postal application.

They have also written that by now you should be aware that your ILR was approved.

Completely shameless response from UKBA as even after 3 months of making postal application there was NO CASE WORKER ALLOTED.

I have got a written evidence from UKBA and they were shameless in disclosing that. I am not aware as to how many further months they wasted in assigning a CASE WORKER.

Minimum 3 months can be safely assumed to be wasted out of total 5.5 months.

Thanks & Regards
Ash

I am suspicious, not least because a month ago the visas were dated two weeks earlier than passports received and now it is closer to four weeks!
I find it hard to believe that a phone call made after the decision has been made would result in the applicant being told the application has not been processed!
I also find it hard to understand why a passport would be be held in limbo for several weeks before posting.
The UKBA have computers so should be able to tell someone that a decision has been made if they phone.
Storing hundreds of passports for weeks before posting back makes no sense either.
I have no hard evidence that they are massaging the figures but this all confirms something is very wrong somewhere!

Hello all

Was a silent reader but I though I'd let you know that im here in support !

set (m)
Applied : 22/03/2012
Ack recd : 27/03/2012

5 weeks in the waiting tomorow ..

im actualy in the process of getting a new job and im really hoping that this will not impact my chances .. but probably will... anyone was succesfull at this ?

When I first applied i though that the 6 month wait was a gross exageration and that it would never take that long as my application is pretty straightfoward .. was i ever mistaken !!! now im kicking my own behind for not going for the 1 day service ... lesson hardly learned .. you know what they say about assuming !!

good luck all for a speedy process !

Hi there!
Thanks for posting, was hoping to here from someone who applied for SET(M) in March.
Did you get your BRP letter yet?
I've got the same situation about work, it is a great opportunity and if I'll have to miss it just because of the visa, Ill be gutted.

Hi Sara

no.. i've not received it yet .. i called last week to be told that my info were not on the system yet.. as i understand it they send you your BRP letter once its on the system..

Have you received it yet ??

got questions about that ... could you people say that its a trend that once you've sent your BRP back that you will receive your passport shortly after ?

sara.. when i called last week they gave me an employer's hotline where they can call and be told that your allowed to work while you application is in process.. number is 0300 123 4699...

something else ... did you have employement when you applied ? if not how do you think this will affect our application..
im asking because I didnt but my partner has alot of savings (the fact is i dont really need to work) and im not claiming benefits. but now im starting to think that its going to affect my application....
