Very strange. I sent my application in 10th Jan, they received 14th Jan and got my biometric letter on the 31st. Seems as if things were going along just swimmingly and then everything just stopped! If they have a back-log, they should hire more people.

Hi Puns_puns, did you also use that fast-track option? I can't believe you applied after I did my biometrics and have gotten an answer already! Not that I don't believe you, only that it's unfair ;)

Yes, thank you, I watch that page very closely! I am not expecting an answer to mine until at least this coming week. I was referring to the times between application and biometric letter & then time from biometrics until decision on this board. If you look on this thread for people that received answers in January, the times are about 2-3 weeks for biometric letter and then 2-3 weeks for decision. It seems that based on the link you put up, its now closer to 3-4 weeks for both. Wonder if UKBA found another box of 10,000 missed applicants

I applied through an agent. My office handles everything. The agent has sent me a copy of the acknowledgment letter and my name is misspelled in it. Will this be a reason for the application to be rejected?

I'm going to contact my agent and then UKBA to see if this was an error made by the person who typed the acknowledgement letter.

Has anybody come across a situation like this?

Type of application: Extending
Number of dependants applying at same time: None
Date application posted: 03/01/2013 (Online) | 05/01/2013 (Docs Posted)
Date application received by UKBA: 03/01/2013 (Online) | 07/01/2013 (Docs Received)
Date payment debited: 03/01/2013 (Debit)
Payment mode: Debit
Biometric letter received 25/01/2013 (letter dated 23/01/2013)
Date of biometrics enrolment: 26/01/2013
Date of approval: 20/2/13 (according what is on the BRP anyway!)
Date of return of passport and other documents: WAITING
Date BRP received: 25/2/13

----------------------------------------------------
I notice some of you applied 3 months before your permits expire. If I knew that was acceptable (couldn't gauge how early UK BA considers as too early), I would've applied mine earlier. :(

But it's true what globalgypsy said about the difference in time frames now. I know of someone who applied late November and got hers beginning of January. That was roughly 4-5 weeks, from submitting online to getting her BRP, and with all those holiday dates and holiday mail in between too. It's driving me mental waiting for mine that's taking longer than I expected based on her estimates.
