I had to wait 10 weeks to obtain my passport. Please note that I have never been in contact with the Passport Office throughout the application process, so I do not know if my application has always been processed in Durham office or not.
Out of curiosity, which of the passport office processed your application.......Am amazed at the speed in which your application was processed...well done.Khansab12345 wrote:Passport application: first adult ( new naturlized)

One more question please. Do they take picture on the

Any ideas please
Can you please confirm if the person who signed your form was contacted and also if you received a text or email about delivery. My british by descent friend applied in June and the application is in Durham office. Thanks.Mogwai71 wrote:Passport for: Adult (citizen by descent)

I'm assuming you never got a SMS confirmation of it being printed then?
EDIT: Just got my SMS saying my passport has been printed and is on it's way!

Contacted the 0300 number again as it'd been the fifth week since they received my application and told them I'm flying on the 19th and hasn't heard anything back. They filled form to be sent to the passport office. I received a call a few hours later from the passport office asking to confirm my details and whether I could be travelling on my other passport, to which I said yes. They asked me to send them a fax requesting my other passport and told me that I should be receiving my passport and the interview letter some time this week. Fingers crossed.

Called the 0300 number again and after my details were taken I was told it's still in examination progress and I should hear from them in about a week. I, then, asked if that was for the interview letter, the woman on the phone asked me if this was my first application and I said yes. So it seems like they take your details and do nothing with them at all. They must have got given guidelines to make you feel like they are looking into things but in actual fact, they're trying to fool you.

Called the 0300 number to get a status update but was told the application was received on the 4th so I should call Friday morning. Post office check&send is clearly not a great service as they don't deliver it next day.
I think that's pretty much what they did really. The lady on the phone told me that the processing of my British passport has now been complete and all I need to do book an appointment. I'm hoping to receive the interview letter in a couple of days...JJJJJ wrote:Haphazardeous wrote:UPDATESHaphazardeous wrote:Passport for: Adult (Naturalised Citizen)

H i after 5 weeks if you still havent heard anything fom HMPO like an interview letter yet, you can request a fast track, from what I can see you are over 5 weeks and you are eligible for it. Good luck

I had followed up in the last week of July to find out what's happening - they did reply on 30 July but I was not any wiser, they simply said it is under examination or something like that, and that it is expected to be processed according to the timelines provided earlier.
After I received my letter, I called them and I got an appointment for London Victoria for the very next day. I called at 8 am on 06/08/14 (when the telephone lines open) - so it may be that if you call first thing, you get one of the newly released slots.
They do ask lots of incredibly specific questions - I got asked things like what roads do you walk on as you walk to the train station in the morning, which GP are you registered with, what bank accounts you hold etc.
Good luck all.
