All,
I've seen numerous posts here regarding the naturalisation of those people who are living and working here for 5+ years on the foot of a work permit or a work visa.
I wanted to find out what sort of additional documentation is requested for dependent spouses when they are having their naturalisation forms processed. Since such people won't be working, they won't have P60s or P21s etc to submit. Do such applications take longer to process than those who are working?
Wanted to ask this in the context of my wife's application since she is not working for the past one year and is here as a dependent.

Congratulations Adura. Yes its just the beginning, makes some things easier though (Cuts out embassy trips for a traveller like me). God that has heard your 'adura' and started this will be faithful to complete it.

Called today. got thru after 20 min. I asked if my Gardai report is ready. she said it's not in the bunch that came back in December & a reminder has been sent as it's been a while (sent additional Docs end of April 2010) . She assured me that my file is not forgotten & there's a chance of my report being in the next big bunch of Gardai reports arriving in the next couple of weeks. She said they're actively working to clear the queue.

Hey guys,

Just joined the community and thought I'd update you all.

Timeline -

January 2009: application sent.
March 2009: confirmation and reference letter.
January 2010 (today): letter confirming that "further processing of the application is ongoing and the file will be submitted to the minister for a decision in due course"

I've entered 22 months of waiting. Based on your experience and the above quote and timeline, when should I expect things to finalise? What will the next steps be and when will they happen? Excuse my eagerness, but (as everybody else) I want to get this over with.

Thank you!

...tried to contact them in tipp. today but after approx. 47 mins. of listening to a pre-recorded message i decided to hang up !! Surely it doesn't take THAT LONG to attend to a general telephonic enquiry ? Extremely poor customer-service....inis, it's time to pull your socks up....

They could just put in a premium phone number there and charge money from people. that way they can be sure that only serious callers will call up and at the same time INIS can make a tidy sum of money as well! I'm sure people won't mind paying if they can genuinely get access to info!

With this info, we know that the ball is still rolling from the side of inis ...we hope and belief that one day God will touch their heart to remember those of us who are still waiting. Once again, Congratulations to you, aswadref!!! and don`t forget to update us on the trend of things like you had promised. Cheers!

Just one more question there:

When they asked for your original birth cert, did they ask to bank statements as well?

Cheers,
