Hello to all,

I'vr been following this forum for awhile now, so i decided to join in.

I applied through settlement checking in ---15march 2012
Then acknowledgment receipt from ukba
Sheffield in ----------------------- 19 March
Biometric letter received --------------------- 17 May
(done the next day)

Like mostly of March applicants, i am still waiting. Hope all of us will receive our Biometric card & ILR before the end of July. As i know exactly how u all feel.

help

Post by gurudev » Mon Jul 16, 2012 10:20 am

Can anyone help me in contacting the Sheffield office,

I called 0870 606 7766 I was surpriced to hear that "Applications made within six months are subjected to statutery informaction checking and this call will now end" something like this.

Can anybody give me the number where I can get update on my application. And does anybody know what the six months period means is it 24 weeks or we need to count from March - Sep as six months, or 180 working days.

Please let me know.

Thank you

You must seek legal advise here.

UKBA clearly state that until your application is decided you are allowed youto work and even you can apply for a new job if the employer is willing to go the ECS route.

This is a very very unfair move if all employers started doing this and also if UKBA started to take 1 year to process our ILR.

May be it's time to form something like HSMP Forum to act against these BS.
Yours visa application is outstanding so you are allowed to work under section C(what section name is?).If he refused to take you on work, file a case on Employment Tribunal for damages and discrimination.Warn yours employer by metioning Section name and that if he refused to take you on work you will take case to Employment Tribunal.Even yours employer not give you work and you sit home for few month ,you can get yours all months pay saying you were legal. There are lots of solicitors who do employment cases.Contact one of them.

I'm an American applying for my ILR. I've lived in the UK for 2 years on a spouse visa and have held a job as a zookeeper for the entire time I have lived here.

My timeline:

Applied SET(M) via checking service 15 March 2012
Received acknowledgement letter 19 March 2012
Received Biometric Enrollment letter 18 April 2012
Submitted Biometrics 26 April 2012

Waiting 17 weeks!!!!

I did notice something I thought was a bit odd. My acknowledgement letter is from the Sheffield office, and my Biometric Enrollment letter is from the Liverpool office?? Has anyone else seen this, or have the UKBA screwed something up? Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. They also misspelled my middle name on my acknowledgement letter. I did phone them to notify them of the typo and they assured me that it would not be a problem.

I have had one issue after the other trying to get into/stay in this country, and it has put a significant amount of strain on my relationship with my husband. Stressful times, for sure.

I've noticed, looking at some other timelines, that some other people have applied for their SET(M) ILR after I have and received theirs already! I swear the bureaucrats have a vendetta against me. grr.

I have planned to go back to the States to visit my family on the 25th of this month, assuming that 18 weeks would be more than a sufficient amount of time to leave the application. Looks like I grossly miscalculated. I paid the £80 to utilize the checking service, so only what was needed was sent off, to make the process smoother once it reached an agent's desk. This also meant that I could keep my passport. So, technically, I can travel out of the UK, but unless I get my biometric card in the post before I leave, I will not be allowed to re-enter the country without facing hours of detention (which I have experienced before...and it was NOT nice at all) since my spouse visa is now expired and I am sitting in limbo.

HEATER, YOUR ACCOUNT SOUNDS SOOO FAMILIAR TO ME!!

SEEMS THAT SHEFFIELD IS THE RECEPTION POINT AND LIVERPOOL IS WHERE OUR ILR'S ARE DECIDED (CASEWORK UNIT). FOR SOME OBSCURE REASON THEY MOVE FILES FROM ONE SIDE TO ANOTHER.

CHECKING RECENT TIME LINES, SEEMS THAT THEY'RE TAKING AROUND 4 MONTHS FOR SET M. IF YOU HAVE BEEN IN DETENTION IN THE PAST, PROBABLY THEY MARKED YOUR PASSPORT OR/AND YOU ARE ON THEIR RECORDS. THIS WILL GIVE YOUR CASEWORKER EXTRA WORK JUST TO DOUBLE CHECK. IF IT WAS A MINOR FAULT THAT SHOULDN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE. NO WORRIES.

YOU'RE RIGHT, IS NOT A GOOD IDEA TO LEAVE THE UK BEFORE YOUR CASE IS DEFINED, SOME AIRPORTS TAKE YOUR FINGERPRINTS BEFORE LEAVING THE UK, (BEEN THERE) AND YOU'LL GET INTO TROUBLE AGAIN.

HOPE YOU GET YOUR PASSPORT ON TIME, CHANGING FLIGHTS WITH THIS OLYMPIC MADNESS WILL BE ANOTHER HELL. ALL THE BEST!!

I think we'll have "more joy" of waiting...

Heard on last night's news that UKBA would have to deploy more staff in Airports for Olympic duties...

That means expect more delay in getting our applications processed - but I don't know if the "staff" they call out have any impact on ILR processing... but who knows

All in the same boat

Post by littlebits » Tue Jul 17, 2012 3:17 pm

Hi All

Since submitting my rant to the forum I have noticed a familiar pattern with March applicants. I suspected that the introduction of the Identity Card was going to hold everything up especially since, at the time, the UKBA hadn't even properly updated their paperwork nor their website in regard to this.

This is an extremely frustrating process and the longer we all wait the more stressful it becomes and I'm sure that we are all feeling the stress in our relationships. But remember, there will be an end!

We also paid the £80 thinking that by using the Registrar we would have a smoother, quicker process but alas this was not the case - we just had the luxury of keeping our passports (which is pretty useless for me without my ID card).

My timeline: Set (M)
Submitted: 20 March 2012 (Registrar, London)
Verification of Application Letter: 22 March 2012 (Sheffield Office)
Biometrics Letter: Mailed on 19 April - received on 25 April (Liverpool Office)
Biometrics Taken: 26 April 2012

I'm extremely grateful for this forum as before finding it, I really felt targeted by the UKBA.

Fingers crossed for Friday - 4 months on!
Good luck everyone.

From the date of acknowledgement you can count.

The UKBA are pretty good at keeping under six months (just).

In the days of the passport vignette they 'backdated' the issue date to improve performance figures but I have recently had a response to my letter of complaint about the delays.

Apparently passports had to go to Mars or Jupiter on the back of a snail because the office was incapable of sticking a sticker in the passport!

I assume the snails have been made redundant now a biometric card is required!

Hello,

Is ther any solicitor reading this forum as i needed to ask about this;

Me & my husband will have a convalidation of marriage(church wedding this time after out civil wedding nearly 3 yrs ago) so we are inviting my siblings to come over here to be part of the entourage & to attend my mum 75th bday which is the most impt one.
The thing is, my siblings have to apply their family visit visa soon as my mum bday is Sept & our wedding is in October 2012. So since i havent got my ILR,passport & BRP card yet, the only documents i could send them for their supporting documents is my old stamped photocopy of passport, acknowledgment receipt from UKBA of my set m application & biometric enrollment rct. However, aside from me, my husband who is british, mum, 2 sisters & brod in laws who are naturalised also sponsoring our siblings to come here. My question now, what is the effect of my siblings family visit visa application f they could only show my acknowldgment receipt? But again, its not just only me sponsoring them so aside from my acknoledgment rct, my family here have
Sent their own documents to support my siblings visit visa application.

Can my siblings use my acknowledgment receipt & old passport copy to support their visa application here in addition to the documents given by family here? I need advise if possible, pls. Thanks

Is it ok for them to show or submit my

Hi All,

It seems that there are many of us who are still waiting since March. I also applied through the Settlement Checking Service and it doesn't seem to have helped and am now panicking as I am due to travel a week on Saturday.

I am surprised though that others say they got to keep their passport when applying in this way, as they still kept mine - the guidance on the UKBA site says: Your spouse or partner's passport or travel document will be checked, copied and returned to them. The officer will check and retain your passport or travel document. If you are applying with your dependants, their passports or travel documents will also be checked and retained. We retain passports and travel documents so we can insert a vignette or sticker to show any grant of leave. Any ideas?

I called the Immigration Advice Line and though sympathetic they were not able to help - it's just so frustrating not knowing what is going on.

I just hope there are a whole load of passports waiting to be issued and we all get them soon...

Best of luck all!

Hi, we were also surprised when the Registrar said that we could keep our passports as we had read the same information as you on the UKBAs website - I just put this down to yet another example of the out-of-date info. The Registrar, who we lodged our application with, mentioned that their paperwork from the UKBA was also out-of-date....

If the UKBA used their website efficiently and provided clear and transparent information to applicants we wouldn't all be chasing our tails like this. It's unfortunate that the UKBA doesn't empathise with our plight and realise how important it is to keep people informed.

I have Similar case - Biometrics from Liverpool office and Acknowledgment letter from sheffield office ...

Finally arrived

Post by ashwin1406 » Thu Jul 19, 2012 11:16 am

Guys,

It has finally arrived. Thank God, Just a day before my travel. It was very hard to experience. I did request to expedite the application 3 times by Fax and requested MP as well to expedite from his end. It all worked. But I believe it works only if they get convinced with our situation. This forums has helped me to know the process to expedite. Thanks a lot.

My Time Lines:
Type of application: SET (O) JR, 5yrs (HSMP+ Tier 1), two dependents
Application submission date: 15.02.2012
Acknowledgement letter and Fees: 17.02.2012
Document received back: 19.07.2012
Stamped date: 18.07.2012
Total Time: 22 weeks

Suggestions:

1. Calling to UKBA doesnt work if it is under 6 Months, they refused to tell the status even yesterday.
2. Faxing the request does work with genuine reason. And just wait till the requested date.
3. Writing to MP may also work.

Congratulations!

I must add:

4) Expediting may have failed entirely and not achieved a thing - it did take 22 weeks after all! I don't call that expedited!

I would believe it was expedited as my stamp date was just yesterday and My travel date is tomorrow and I have received it today, not many received it the next day of the stamp date.

Ha! True that is pretty fortuitous! Congrats again. I can only hope mine isn't far away.
