Hi MOJ,

Welcome, we applied for my wifes visa on 22/08/11 from amhadabad where was your application subbmitted ??

Yes your right takes approx 50- 60 working days (excluding weekends and holidays) but some places process quicker than others.

And yes just a waiting game but soooo frustrating !!!!

Good luck to you and keep us updated

Hi NNPS,

The esol exam your wife took was it the IELTS exam ? if so, what band score did she get ?

Your list of documents look spot on but im no expert so i would still advise seeking legal help from a immigration specialist as the BHC rufuse on even the smallest of things

We applied on 22/08/11 from amhadabad and are still waiting !!!!

soooooo frustrating !!!!!!!

Good luck to you and hope all goes well.

Hello All,

I am a British citizen and my husband is from india. He filed his application yesterday at the Jalandhar VFS office. I know we have a long wait ahead of us as i have read other stories on here stating it takes approx 60 working days to hear something back but i just thought id keep sharing my experience on here with you guys!

Has anyone recently submitted there application at the jalandhar office??

Ive not read many posts where people have been invited for interviews either.. Is this something that the UKBA do less of now or do they just carry interviews out over the phone??

Also is it true that medicals are no longer required???

Thanks for all your help! Wish me luck in our application! :D

Hi Chimpee,

Thought I'd share my experience with you as I was in the same boat as you...

My husband had submitted his file to the Jalandhar visa centre on 11/07/11 and was granted a visa on 09/09/11. Took 43 days in total.
I have noticed that it takes approximately 40-45 days for the process to be complete.

There is no need for a medical as they stopped that over 2 years ago. Its quite straight forward now. As long as you have provided the required documentations, there shouldnt be any problems...

If you have any questions do ask away...

:)

by the way Chimpee interviews are no longer taken.

If the UKBA need to ask any questions then they may call, but this is very very rare....

Try not to worry. Everything will be sorted in good time...just enjoy ur time with ur family before ur hubby comes :)

Thanks for your reply sohni!

Congrats on your husband getting his visa!! is he here in the UK with you now? I hope you guys have a happy married life together :D

its horrible being apart from your husband/wife. Were going through torture at the moment!

Thats good that they no longer do medicals or interviews. That should speed up the process!

Can i ask you what u supplied in ur documentation in terms of proof of accommodation??

Thanks

Hi Chimpee,

He hasnt booked his ticket as of yet. he has a family wedding next week so will come back he has attended that....

i know, it really is touture being apart from ur spouse...
but distance makes the heart grow founder they say :D

as im living with my parents i gave my paretns details.
Once he is here we will move out.

I provided a letter from my parents confirming that they are for than happy to accomodate me and my husband. the letter should state how many people will be staying in the house and how many bedrooms there are.

if you are renting then you require the tenancy agreement and rental receipts (i think).

Aww I can feel ur excitement!!

That's the same as me. I live with my parents and I sent a letter written from them with a copy of council tax and utility bill and a mortgage letter confirming everything. Do u think this will be enough??

Where abouts in the uk r u from??

Hi chimpee,

We applied for my wifes settlement visa from amhadabad on 22/08/11 and still waiting ( its a horrible wait!!!!!)

As proof of accomadation in our application we provided my mums morgage statment (as thats where we will be living) also a letter from my mum saying shes happy for us to stay there as long as we like, and finally a accomadation certificate provided by our local council which cost 60 quid !!! which says how many people live at the address and how many people it can accomadate.

Hey sohni hope your well we are all still waiting for the sweets!!!! lol

Hi leic-viz!

Hopefully youl hear something soon!! What was the actual document called that you got from your council that cost you £60??

I'm slightly worried as I never supplied a document from the council. I just supplied a letter typed out by my dad who owns the property stating that he's more than happy to have us live there till we get our own place and it says how many people currently living there and the measurements of each room. With this I also suppled a copy of his council tax and utility bill.

Do u think this will be enough??

I hope we all have a reason to share the sweets!! ;)
